Well, some who vote for either of them will be doing it by thinking for themselves, but sadly many will just vote for either because they have been dubbed "The front runners".

I think the title to this article shows exactly how the media likes to frame the race. Notice anyone missing...
Poll: Romney leads New Hampshire, Huntsman in third, Perry in fourth

I wonder the same thing. The did a bang up job picking McCain....
We have found it very interesting how the media consistently ignore Ron Paul. It is bad when Jon Stewart has to point that out to them! But I have noticed they are getting a little bit better. But after each debate we have watched the train wreck media trying to foist their own candidates, Over and over again they are pushing for Romney and Perry. I will push hard with the Colorado RNC to keep either of these guys from getting on the ticket.

What I'm wondering is WHY the press has chosen Romney and Perry, if indeed they have. It's seemed to me since this campaign begun the media has taken turns being "in love" with several different candidate but their crushes have all been short-lived. Of course, the voters who have been polled, IF you can rely on the polls, seem to be pretty fickle themselves when you think about it, don't they?
I always figured the media was for whichever candidate(s) gave them the best opportunities for the biggest stories. I'm pretty sure Romney doesn't fit that description. Also, if the mainstream media really were as liberal as they're often accused of being, wouldn't they be pushing for the wackiest, furthest out there candidates, thinking they wouldn't be electable?

I've seen it every election of my adult life. Sometimes the incompetent press is successful at getting their anointed one nominated, sometimes they aren't. I'm only blaming the press partially here, the most blame (and scorn) goes to the RNC itself. They don't have to follow up the incompetent press' picks with their huge war chest.. but they do.
I'm also not absolving Republican electors of their responsibility. The caucuses are nothing but a big popularity contest, but not like most people would think. It's not about who likes which candidate the most as much as who is seen standing by who. Caucuses aren't like elections. There is no "secret ballot", the delegates go stand in areas designated for each candidate, and the one with the biggest cheering section winds (yes, I do realize the hypocrisy between this and the Republican accusations against union "card check").
Like all sheep activities, the "front runners" have the upper hand, and the (verbal) hand can come down pretty hard if needed. What delegate wants to be caught dancing with the spinster at the end of the evening? They go home without claiming the prize.
But where I lay blame firmly in the laps of the vultures in the press is they talk of front runners before anyone has a chance to really get to know the runners. They purposely manipulate the process, and a flaming pox on their genitals for it.
Btw, they do the same to the DNC too, but in different ways.

ASk the average supporter why they support either man and they will likely regurgitate the same talking points the press uses when talking about them too. People are sheep. Most people in this country are willfully ignorant to the ways of proper (or even general) governance and have no interest in learning why they really support or don't support a given candidate. As long as this state of things exists, the media will continue to choose not only our candidates ,but our president as well.

I honestly don't know, but it does get very old with the press being so biased. What happened to fair and equal coverage? If we continue to listen to the media and let them make our decisions for us, we will not improve our economy or our nation. I get so sick of their playing favorites....it does not do the candidates justice, nor does it do our nation any good.
Personally so far I prefer either Cain or Huntsman, especially over the two chosen media darlings...Romney and Perry. Romney flip flops on the issues in which ever direction he thinks will do him the most good, and here in Texas we are already sick of Perry....so why would I want to vote either of them into the White House? Maybe someday the media will be fair, but I doubt it.
