Actually you don't have to submit your website. The search engine robot crawler had already do it automatically to index your website. And then when someone typing a keyword to be searched in search engine, they will rank the result based on the site's RELEVANCY and POPULARITY.
So, when you are trying to search a keyword that should be related with your blog, but you can't see your blog on the first page, then your blog isn't ranked well yet on the search engine. Your blog may already being indexed by search engine and can be found in later page of search result.
In order to appear on first page of Search Engine Page Result, try to learn something about "Search Engine Optimization".

Of course, great content is one of the important key!
But I guess it is not only about the great content in order to appear in the first page of search engine result, but also about your site popularity. Try to get much backlink and traffic to your site for increasing your site popularity!
