When do you decorate for Halloween?

It's not even October yet and I just saw on TV that there are Halloween haunted house already open in Phoenix. One of the newscasters said some places have been decorated for Halloween as early as September 6th!! September 6th!! Halloween isn't even until October 31st. What is going on? The other newscaster even admitted her home was already decorated for Halloween. Looks like people are having fun decorating as soon as the stores begin stocking the Halloween decorations in their aisles. I think I will wait till first week of October, if I do it at all. Have you already started decorating for Halloween? When do you do it?

I may do some decorating next week. I usually do not do much for Halloween but I do have some decorations that I would like to set up and so I may just do it. I still have snowmen decorations up from last winter in my house. I collect them so it is hard to put them away.

Snowmen? Hahahah!! I still see Christmas lights up around my neighborhood also. I have curtailed my decorating lately also. I still can't get over that people are decorating for Halloween as early as September 6th when the stores start selling the stuff. I have a 3 ft Halloween tree and counter top graveyard. That may be the extent of my decorating this year.

Your Halloween tree sounds interesting! Do you have a photo of the tree you can share?

I don't "do" Halloween so I don't decorate for it, but I did drag out some fall decorations just this afternoon. I love the bright colors and I enjoy changing the look of the house to go with the seasons.

Ugh! If it was that hot here, I don't think I'd be decorating for fall, either. I'm so glad it's begun to cool down, although we're having daytime temps in the high 80s. It cools down a lot at night here, though. I love it.

Good. Yeah, it's supposed to get cooler soon. I can't wait. Next weekend begins October. I need to get motivated by then or it's not worth the effort to decorate at all for only a few days or weeks. LOL!

That makes a lot of sense, Peavey. I tend to combine my Thanksgiving decorations with my Halloween decorations. I am intend to decorate by October 1st though. September here in AZ is just way too hot for it to feel like autumn. We are still in triple digits which only it makes it crazy to me that in Phoenix there are now haunted houses up for the public to visit. Triple digit heat! I am hoping the temperatures drop at least into the 80's so it feels more like autumn and Halloween time when I put my decorations this year.

The most I do for Halloween these past few years is a pumpkin carving for the front porch. I really only do that because I want to use the pumpkin for a fresh pumpkin pie and pumpkin muffins. I live in a rural neighborhood and there are no trick or treaters here, although, I do buy a bag or two of my favorite candy just in case... and to have for myself, ha! We have nearby the yearly Circleville Pumpkin Festival, which is held this year on the 10th through the 22nd of October. I may try to get there this year if I'm not too tired after work one of those days. It's pumpkin everything and I love pumpkin.

Great! I love pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread. We get pumpkins imported for carving and cooking but I don't see many being used for decorations outside in this heat. We live in a small city but we don't get trick-or-treaters here either. Our neighborhood has no sidewalks or steetlights. For candy, the city turns about four blocks of the main street into a pedestrian zone and the businesses set up tents and booths for giving out candy to the kids. Lots of families, food and candy in relative safety. =) I will see if I can figure out how to upload some photos here of my tree and my mini-graveyard as requested.

First, thank you ever so much for "Best Response"! I'm Halloween honored! I like the idea of tents and booths set up by the businesses downtown. Sounds like a good way to gather for the holiday.
