Could it be I want to lose weight bad enough to actually do it this time?

For the bigger part of my life I have been somewhat over weight. I've tried many times over the years to maintain a better figure. In my early twenties I lost excess fat without much trouble, but the older I got the harder it was to lose weight. I was at my biggest a couple years ago and slowly shed some of it. and until a few months ago I was at a stand still. The weight gave me a lot of aches and pains as well as looking terrible. I'm having better luck now and am down almost twenty pounds with hope to take off twenty more. Could it be it makes a big difference how bad one wants to lose weight? I thought I wanted it badly before, but after seeing how much better I feel lighter, I hope the rest will come off easily.

Your mind really needs to be 'in the right place' to diet successfully, and I speak from experience!Looking at the photos after my stay at my daughter's house for Christmas 2010 I was horrified to see how much weight I had put on. I had turned 60 just before Christmas and I was really feeling the extra weight that I had piled on over the last 18 months to two years. I knew that the only way I could possibly lose the weight was to return back to Weight Watchers and attend meetings, in my opinion the only sure way of losing the weight. I have had a long association with Weight Watchers and became a gold member in 1981 after losing 9 stone. Sadly age, health and family problems had taken their toll and here I was - 30 years later - bigger than ever!!After 4 weeks I was thrilled to have lost 13 lbs. At my third weigh in I received my first 'silver seven' and by week four was just 1lb off my 5% loss mark!! At the moment I still have 28 more pound to lose but I have lost 77 pound since the 11th January and feel fantastic!!

Yes losing weight IS hard, but worth it in the end. It is a good idea to measure yourself before you start as often you lose inches rather than weight!! Remember to drink plenty of water this does help with the diet, and also stops you feeling hungry. I too am a diabetic, no doubt brought on by being overweight, but I have managed to bring my sugar levels down as well as my blood pressure and cholesterol. Good luck, I'm sure that you'll do it!!

Hmmm...I think it's different for every one. This month last year i was 185 lbs. The other day I checked my weight and it was down to 150. I didn't work out at all. For me it was just a change in lifestyle. My sugar level is on borderline so my doctor advised me to cut down on my sweets...that was last september. Well I did follow her advice. I stopped going to my favorite cafe' (i used to go once or twice a week) and now i only get to eat my favorite cheesecake once a month or so. I stopped eating sweets in between meals. And i stopped drinking iced tea, juices, and sodas. Once in a while I'd drink a coke but always diet. I still eat chocolates and cookies and other sweets but not like before...everything is in moderation now. And my weight just went down little by little. So now i really feel good about myself.I'm losing weight without having to work out or starving myself. Just a change in lifestyle.

I try to avoid sweets and cut down at meals. Just a few pounds off and I have a lot less pain in my legs and back. I was feeling like an old lady, long before my time.

I had been to where I would count calories, exercised more and got to a platform where the scales just wouldn't budge. I got past that part when I found an article in a magazine and ordered a book on amazon called the dukan diet. Seems to be working out well for me. If you happen upon it and decide to do it, my best advice is to read the whole thing before starting the whole thing.

I also have same problem losing weight as I get older. It is due to slow metabolism that is why it takes time before we lost some weight. I am on a strict diet to reach my goal, since I am too lazy to exercise, so diet is the best way for me to lost weight. I wish you all the best on your aim to lost more pounds.

I was not exercising much either. I hurt to even move from room to room after standing all day at work. But I find the pain is nearly gone now just from being lighter and I have much more energy. At least now I am walking more, it's sure to help.
