It's true, Morgan Freeman is one of the greatest, most talented actors living today. He's one of the few who can take on any roll in any movie and make it spectacular. He is in some of the best movies I've ever seen in my life.
But when it comes to real life, the guy is as shallow as frisbee. The man who spoke out against having a Black History Month. When Mike Wallace asked him how we can get rid of racism, his answer was...
"Stop talking about it. I'm going to stop calling you a white man," Freeman says to Wallace. "And I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a black man. I know you as Mike Wallace. You know me as Morgan Freeman. You wouldn't say, 'Well, I know this white guy named Mike Wallace.' You know what I'm sayin'?"
So where did that attitude go when asked about the TEA parties?
He says that the TEA partiers are all racists. What evidence does he have of this? Because our stated goal is to see to it that Barrack Obama is a one term president.
He is the hypocritical bigot that attached race to it. The racist idiot can't even live up to his own hype.
Sorry Mr. Freeman, but you need to get out of your gated community and limo long enough to breath some real air for once. If you ever bothered to go to a TEA party, you would notice that you are far from the only Black man there. But let's not ruin your race baiting sliminess with reality here.
For the record, I'm glad Morgan Freeman is free to tell the world how prejudice he is. That way we can decide for ourselves if he's worth supporting as an actor.

Ted, I have seen a few "Tea party" gathering, and have been invited to a few. Everyone I know that claims to be a part of the "tea party" are white, and every gathering I have had to drive by was all white. Now I do live in a state where the population is about even, but it is a party made up MOSTLY of white people. Not to say that they are racist, some of the people that I know that say they are in the "tea party" have made racist comments to me, but that doesn't mean they all are. I don't think that Morgan Freeman was correct in calling ALL tea party people racist, but I personally know some that are.

Sadly, yes, there are racists in the TEA party, but for Freeman and other elitists to paint us all with that broad brush shows their own prejudices and bigotry. The same people who call us racist had no problem with voters who supported Obama for no other reason that the color of his skin (or is there another way to take the fact that many voted for him so we could celebrate the first Black president?).
On the other hand, I appreciate Morgan Freeman for saying what he really thinks, it both reassures us that he is the honest man we hope he is, and shows us what he really thinks of people who oppose a president he happens to share a skin color with.
As a side note, I wonder how this statement goes with his other statement against making everything a race issue. :~D

Maters, I am not saying that all white people are racist, but using the same figures that you are using, just by the numbers you will have some racist in that group. And, they also will get more attention because of the WOW factor, and hate sells.

I don't know if you're saying that white protestors automatically means that there are some racists in there. I won't assume that far.
But I would point to another protest going on right now, with those Wall Street occupiers.
That crowd also looks very, very white. (Very dirty, too, but that's another story
)
I'm quite sure some racists have gravitated to the tea party. It's illogical to think otherwise. But the fact that there are a lot of white people speaks more strongly to our entire social dynamic, not just whites.
It seems that white people, Latinos, Asians, blacks, etc, get off their rears to protest about different things.
Different things move different people. There just happens to be over 200,000,000 white people out of 315,000,000 people.
A lot of the anti-war, pro-choice, pro-gay/lesbian protests are also incredibly white, whereas an anti-police protest in an inner city stands a good chance of being mostly black, and a pro-immigration protest stands of good chance of having a large percentage of Latinos.

This is so disappointing. I completely agree with his first quote, and the second makes me sad.
Recently, there was a letter to the editor of our local paper from one of the people running for a seat on city council. This person, who was a self-described "ethnic" (he referred to "us ethnics" in the letter) seemed to think that the paper was endorsing a certain candidate.
He accused the paper of racism, saying that the paper was endorsing said candidate just because she was white. Rather than go on to provide evidence of this racism, what did he do?
He proceeded to say that because Ward 5 is so very ethnically diverse, no white person could ever be qualified to represent the constituents of that ward!
Excuse me? If there is such ethnic diversity that a white person could not represent the ward, than how could a black, brown, yellow, red, purple, or green person possibly represent it? Perhaps the only appropriate candidate would be a thorough mixture of western and eastern european, middle eastern, indian, chinese, japanese, brazilian, italian, phillipino, native american (let's not forget to represent all the tribes!) and every other race or nationality that we have here in the Mississauga area.
I was completely disgusted to read that letter, but glad that he showed his racist striped in time to scare voters away!

The left is not about freedom or "tolerance", it is about categorizing people, assigning them to their places, and holding them there. Anyone who doesn't meet their demands is less than human.

Most of the actors who are "in the lime light" as political activists are Democrats, so it isn't really a surprise. And they are usually avidly fanatical Democratics, or rabid, if you like. LOL

I probably should know better than to even participate in a discussion about race since it's such a touchy subject and it's so easy to be misunderstood and taken out of context. That being said, here I go jumping in anyway! I'm not absolutely sure if Mr. Freeman meant to say ALL tea partiers are racists; maybe he did, maybe not, either way I'm not here to argue that point. IF that's what he meant, I think he was wrong and should have chosen his words differently. HOWEVER, I don't think his words make him a bigot, I'm sorry, I just DON'T. I think it's sad, first of all, that we're even discussing race at this point in our history. I loved what Morgan said in his first comment, it would be wonderful to live in a truly color-blind society, or at least one in which people aren't degraded because of what race they happen to be. I also find it extremely frustrating that some people within the tea party are so hyper-sensitive they can't accept there ARE some of their own who truly are racists as well as sexists, homophobes and bigots in general. For someone to point out there are SOME doesn't mean that person is accusing the entire group of anything. There are rotten apples in every group and denying their existence or simply ignoring them isn't going to make them disappear. It's far better, in my view, to admit they're there and denounce them when they say and do stupid things.
Next, allow me to play the devil's advocate for a moment; one just MIGHT argue that since the tea party does have as their stated goal to see to it that Obama is a one term President and since all of the things they claim to be so unhappy about under him also existed under George W. Bush but they said not a peep, many in fact supported Bush, there must be some OTHER reason for their desire to oust Obama besides the actual issues. Also, if they cared about the country, wouldn't their "stated goal" be to do something to help it NOW and not over a year from now?

I think morgan freeman is a great actor . I think that he is not prejudice i think that if you don't like an actor then you have the right to say what your opion is but to go along with what someone else says about a actor says that you dont have a mind of your own to think for your self.. don't go along with what you read or hear in the media

Passion, that's all Morgan Freeman is doing... blindly following the liberal party line.
If you bothered reading the post, you would see that I also think he a great actor.
