During my time there was only two colours of uniforms one for primary and another for secondary school .... Then of course the prefects had ties or different colour uniforms. But nowdays each private school has different uniforms ~ some International schools may follow the country they are based from. I believe that School Uniform should be standardised .... as to maintain the main reason, to make all children feel that they are one and none above the other ... What do you think ??

yeah i accept and support your opinion. but it is very hard to implement. in my point of view the uniforms are provided to show all the students are same at the place of education. but nowadays the education itself differs based on the status. this will develop the jealous and selfish for the small children's mind.

I am with you my children's school district wear school uniforms, and they hat it very much. They have more uniforms than regular clothes. And 2 sets of clothes are expensive. I see children running around in the summer time with their school uniforms on. These uniforms have gotten so expensive too. People are getting help to buy uniforms when school starts. I have school uniforms. Each child needs to be their own person this helps them grow. Maybe that is why they say there are a lot of ADD going around these days.

I went to a catholic school so yeah we had uniforms and no I didn't like them too much. My daughter went to public school and she had her own view on a dress policy. She always felt that you should be able to wear what you want wothin certain standards. Schools have dress policies but they do9n't really enforce them and they should. How about jeans and a t-shirt. Just a plain t-shirt. That's simple enough and you still get to be comfertable. But then again it also falls on your school system to enforce it and not slack on it too much.

Hi sanjana, There are plenty of schools in our locality (but when in case of admission, it is difficult to get it) both government schools and public schools. I have seen that all schools have their own uniform. On watching uniform they can easily recognize the students belong to which school. The main purpose of providing uniform may be this, the recognition of their students on first sight, so each and every school is competing to make a suitable uniform for their children. The school’s emblem should be in the uniform. I am not sure about the idea of standardizing the uniform how it works here, it may be a great idea from the point of view of public and students but I don’t think the same reaction from the school authority’s point of view. I would like to add, the uniform in government schools are unique here.

A standardization of school uniforms would not only make a state of equality more visible, but it would also maybe induce an atmosphere of respect and class. In my area of America at least, the kids of public schools are self centered and produce some of the worst scores on those national comparison tests. Of course you will hear the self expression argument against school uniforms. Kids need the freedom to dress and show etc. However that "freedom" has only produced self centered brats with no sense of modesty and no sense of academic responsibility (I look at my local high school when I say this). I believe school uniforms would be a wonderful step in the right direction - a necessary reform not only for its practicability but also for its symbolic value. School uniforms would communicate that education is serious - that the school is truly serious and wants the students to be likewise.
