Holloween is coming and the kids are more ready than ever. What should I do with them this year? Last year, we played games something like on Easter when you find the egg. I nolonger go door to door so i'm looking for new ways or things to do with my kids. Any advice would be nice and thanks in advance. What is it that you do?

You could play normal games but put a halloween twist on it. I remember my brother and I would always be so anticipated for halloween because of the costumes, so you could have a costume designing contest.

This is good but my kids are six and under. I will however keep this in mind, sounds like fun.

What about having a Halloween party for them and their friends? My mom has been bugging me to do that for my kids because she did it for us when we were kids. I've been thinking about doing it but money is tight so I don't know if I have enough to put together a party this year. I think we'll do it for sure next year. We usually do the little Halloween parade in our town and then go trick or treating door to door in my parents little town.

No trick or treating? How sad. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, I love the costumes and the parties and the activities, and of course the trick or treating. Since that's not an option in your area, and you said in another response that your children are young, that does make it difficult. You could host a party for their friends, perhaps? Or of that's not an option, how about a Halloween picnic? You can use cookie cutters to make sandwiches pumpkin shaped, and let the kids use edible markers to draw jack o lantern faces on them. In our house, Halloween is an even that starts in september. Between the costume choosing and making, the decorating, making candied or caramel apples, and coming up with something cute to bake and take to work for Halloween. Hmmm, how about caramel apples? Theres no cooking required if you get the right kit. Many stores sell a kit that has the sticks and rolled out sheets of caramel that you just wrap around the apples. Maybe give them candies, nuts, granola, etc to press into the caramel. There are also stores that sell Halloween themed gingerbread house kits. I'm sure the local craft store has some age appropriate craft kits they could do, as well.
