There are some questions that a child is awkward to ask to her parents. For example, My niece asked me "Auntie, when is the right age for me to have a boyfriend?" of course i had an answer but i wanna know what will be yours just in case you will be asked this kind of question. LOL

I think some kids find it hard to talk to their parents. I talked about almost everything with mine, but my husband never felt like he could with his parents. Personally I think the example question you used is one best left up to the parents, because they may have a rule that their son or daughter cannot date until they are x years old. We have this rule in our house that our kids cannot date until 16. They can have kids over and go to group activities, but cannot openly go on a date until they are 16.
I think maybe you should talk to your niece's parents about this topic and see how they would want you to respond so your answer doesn't conflict with their rules and wants for their child.
