Having or not having a dog?

I live alone and sometimes I feel lonely. I always wanted to have a dog here in my house (we have one at my parent's home), but I never bought one because I thought that he would be alone much time. I left my home around 8:00PM, get home to lunch most of the days and then I get home at 6:00PM. I still would have time to walk with him everyday.
What do you guys think? Should I have one dog for me or do you think that is too bad for the dog be alone for that much time in a apartment?

I know other people have had this concern and their solution was to have two dogs..lol you might not want that much work but you certainly won't have to worry about the dog being alone.
My friend has 2 dobermans..and therefore she always has company and feels quite safe
A dog and cat is sometime the solution. If you get them together they can grow up with each other..but I htink 2 dogs is better if you are looking for a dog to have company.

That's a good idea, I didn't have thought about that option. This way, when my dog that live with my parents come to my house, she will have friends to play with her too!

My neighbor have a bird and it's pretty boring because he don't stop to make noise. And fishes are not fun!
I guess that for me is a dog or is nothing, because I don't like cats either.

I have friends who have a dog that stays alone at their apartment while they work. But when they come home, Somke is the king. You would have to train him though. Puppies are messy. Think of all the pros and cons. But dogs are often as good friends (or better) than people.

I'm writing down the pros and cons. Today, my sister told me that our dog that live with my parents is on her period to be pregnant. I hope we find a good "boyfriend" to her. If she have little babies, I'll definitely take one for me after they get older a little bit.
