In the movie we usually trace our DNA from spit or blood, now can we trace our DNA in our urine, poop, sweat, and dandruff?

Dear Surfer! Interesting discussion! In fact to have a DNA we need to have our body cells. The DNA is the material situated in the nucleus of the cell. This is a basic genetic material and is having a fixed design for an individual. Now in spit, urine, poop and sweat we have the cells from the areas which these things are being thrown out of the body as some cells keep on sloughing and they mix with these. In case of blood we have white blood cells in the blood and they have DNA in them. Dandruff nothing but it is the peeled off skin and we have ample of DNA material in it! So you really need not feel surprised if these things are shown in any movie or written n any book! Thanks for the discussion! I liked participating in it!

Not yet... if we eat KFC, can we trace a chicken DNA in our poop?

We can trace DNA if there's cell to ork on. If there's cells retain or left in urine, then we can trace DNA from it. Poop don't have cells leftovers and I don't think it can be a better platform to work and trace DNA.

How about the DNA from the animal/plant we eat... could we trace that? or it also got destroyed in our digestive system?

Well since it is from your "body" then it would have to have a trace of who the owner is. but definitely not as easy as getting it from the blood, i suppose. dandruff definitely yes, it is afterall your skin that dried out. haha

when we exhale, did our breath contain some DNA too? because the air was in our body for a moment and interact with our cells...

Think of a caterpillar that is born on a cabbage leaf. It lives it's entire life on a cabbage leaf. It eats only a cabbage leaf. So, isn't it made of cabbage? I don't entirely trust all this DNA testing!

it make me curious even more about DNA on poop... is there a cow's DNA in our poop if we eat a sausage?

Yes, yes, everything is made out of cells, and I'm not surprised that there is DNA in everything that comes out of us, even dandruff. I'm sure that the DNA sample has to match someone, though. I don't know if they are able to learn about a person from a sample without knowing any suspects.

almost everything we eat have DNA too, can we detect them and separated them or can there be a confusion when detecting them? like the example i gave in the box above, if i'm Hannibal Lecter and i eat other human, will there a confusion in the DNA traced using my poop?

Recently, I was watching a local TV drama and in one of the episodes, one of the actors said that DNA cld be traced thru' sweat. I'm not sure if that's true but I think it's possible. I think it's also possible to trace one's DNA thru' urine and poop too.

Yes, I've read a book once before where they were trying to trace the killer of a guy. They checked his saliva assuming that his killer and him kissed.. They got a pretty good data there..
