I was at party city today with my son looking for decorations for his birthday party in a few weeks. They had the traditonal 17 inch pinatas for around $19 but then all over they had these huge 36 inch pinatas for around $35. I was really surprised I mean seriously it would take so much candy to fill one of those. I took a picture of my son who will be four in 3 weeks to show exactly how large these new pinatas are. They are called giant pinatas.
Have you seen these at the store? What do you think of them? Have you bought one? Would you buy one or no and why? To me $35 is ALOT of money for something that will be smashed to pieces in about 10 minutes tops.

I never buy pinatas I feel they are a waste of money like you said they will just get smashed up anyways. I just make up goodie bags and give them out.

My daughters birthday is in the summer so her parties are outside and there is more room and more for the kids to do. So I always get a pinata for her parties. My sons though is on October 18th and here it is to chilly to have a party outside this time of year and my house is to small to have a pinata for the kids to do inside. So for his party I just always have party favor bags.

My places have always been to small for pinatas. My daughters birthday is in the summer as well she has never asked for a pinata so I just gave goodie bags.

I think when push comes to shove, what the kids care most about is the goodies, anyway, so they probably will be just as happy if they don't have to chase to get their fair share from the broken pinata.

Hmm the price is quite high as you have said, in the end its up to you and generally kids will be fine with the smaller one i mean there's lots of sweets all over the place once they have smashed it so I'm sure that he would love either of them.
Personally I don't think pinatas are that great and making your own could be easier but it wouldn't have Thomas or anything on it

I actually just snapped this photo of my son next to the pinata to show how tall it is. His birthday party is actually going to be the hot wheels theme. They have a nice pinata for it but I am not buying it. I am having the party in my small house and there isnt enough room for a pinata to be done inside the house. I do buy them for my daughters birthday parties in the summer time.

That is indeed a monster pinata. I wouldn't spend that money on something so temporary either. For kids that age, maybe all they care about is the candy inside. I'd just have a candy hunt and forget the pinata. My son used to love having me hide things he could look for. I don't know many children will be invited, but I'd use the money for small baskets to hold the candy they find and also double as party favors. Of course, if a pinata is considered an essential part of a party in your neighborhood, maybe you have to have one.

What a cute idea the candy hunt. Kind of like an easter egg hunt but for birthdays instead. With my daughters birthday party we do them outside in the summer and since theres a lot more room we always have a pinata. But my sons birthday that is coming up is on the 18th of October and here it is to chilly to have an outside party at that time. So I have the parties inside my house. Its small and cramped but it saves $100 on renting a hall to have it at. There isnt any room inside my house to have a pinata. So we just do favor bags and I put candy and little toys and things inside them. I'm going today with my kids and getting the decorations for my sons birthday party.

I never seen them, but i think the price it's too high seriously. Honestly the reason why the pinatas cost that much it's because of the character.
If you buy a Giant pinata with no famous character just ordinary dinosaurs around it's mostly going to cost cheaper than a small pinata with a famous character kids love.

I think all the ones that were that size were that priced. It might have been a few dollars more because of the character but there were others that werent a popular character and were like just lions and they were just as much. But yes most of the time anything that has characters on it that kids will love the price is higher. Not really fair but thats the way it is I guess.
