Have you ever broken a bone?

I have! I broke my left arm twice and both my stories are pretty embarrassing. First, I decided to try rollerblading for the first time and the very first hill I went down spelt doom as I came crashing down, shattering my wrist. Now, embarrassing as this is, I feel like I kind of made up for it with my second bone-break. It was my very first varsity football game and just as the first half was concluding, my forearm collided with the facemask of a linebacker. My arm was shaped like silly puddy with too much weight on one end so it was starting to become lopsided :P Ok, well now I want to hear your stories. Please be as graphic and gruesome as you'd like.

Yeah, I broke my nose once when the front wheel of my bicycle got blocked. Made a nice somersault over the handle bars. Still see me flying and crashing on the street. Ambulance, emergency unit, hospitalized for two days. Send home and suffering and recovering for three months. My doctor advized me to have a small nose operation just to prevent me from further problems. Hospatilized again for almost six days. Operation, waking up with a feeling a truck run over my face. Two days later removal of all the cotton filling up my nostrils. one bloody mess, but at least a relief. Surgeon and nurses congratulating me, beacause most people faint during this act. Always knew I'm a brave guy. Nowadays I still look great thanks to the craftmanship of the surgeon.

Nice! Well, if I can be honest, I think breaking my nose would be one of the worst pains ever. just thinking about it makes me cringe and i remember a long time ago I tried to "bunny hop" a curb on my bike (witch I had done a million times before) and somehow I ended up smashing head first into the sidewalk. Thankfully my helmet took the entirety of the force and I was able to walk away a great deal luckier than you but ever since, I have never attempted to "bunny hop" again haha. Well, I asked for all the gory details and I got it! Thanks for sharing and you are brave!

Wow! haha interesting story. Ya that's a good point; those casts so sooooo annoying! What color did you get? I would always go with my school's color: light blue. I have no long term injuries, however my left arm is still a little misshapen. Thanks for sharing!

I broke my calcaneus in a bad car accident. That is, I broke my right heel. I had to have 9 screws and a plate put in to hold my foot together. I could not walk for 7 months and still have pain and a limp!! I cannot wear high heels ever again since my foot does not bend and my toes do not bend. I cannot hike like I used to love to do either. I am told that now I have arthritis in my heel. GREAT! When I was home recuperating from surgery, my son was about 12 years old and thought it was cool to bring in friends to see my frankenstein scars down my ankle and across my foot! It was purple, red, and swollen too. Just nasty.

When I was nine years old I had been riding my bicycle down a long hill with a friend. We had just been returning from the park where we had spent the day playing. My bicycle's handlebars suddenly started shaking and to make matters worse my brakes went out. I ended up picking up speed, faster than I would have liked, and sped down the hill. When my bike hit a boulder, I was launched from my seat and hit a stop sign face first where I ended up flipping over and landed on the ground, directly on my left arm. The impact was enough to cause the bone to split partly in half with part of the bone protruding out of the elbow. I still have the scar today. I honestly didn't feel any pain at first, but was terrified from the shock of the accident. My poor friend didn't know what to do, being just as young as I was. Miraculously, a police officer who had just been passing through saw me and took care of us. He sent my friend home, loaded my mangled bike into his trunk, and put me in the cruiser and took me home. My mom and stepdad found out what happened and rushed me to the hospital with a police escort the entire way. That was the only time I've ever broken a bone. Although mine was really a fracture, which means the bone is partially split in half. I've had many sprains and had almost at one time broken my foot. I ended up tripping half way on the sidewalk during a walk with my nieces and nephews. I went two weeks without medical care (I hate hospitals) because I assumed it was just a bad sprain. When everyone convinced me to go to the hospital, I found out that it was a terrible sprain, and that if I had twisted the foot a bit further when I tripped, I would have broken it. The second worse thing I've done though was dislocated my right pinkie. This was really caused by desperation and stupidity. I had been riding my bicycle while exercising my dog. My bike hit some gravel and I ended up falling off the bike and onto the road. The result, bruises and scraps, and my finger was bent into an s shape. Thankfully there were some people who had been driving by who saw what had happened. They called my mother's house. Her boyfriend came to pick me up, and the nice people took my bike home. We put my dog into the house before going to the hospital. It took about thirty minutes before the pain kicked in. To make matters worse, I had to wait an hour before seeing a doctor. I was also amazed at how many patients complained that I couldn't get back in right away. It truly touched my heart.

A broken toe is what i got 5 months ago. I was on vacation that time for my older sister's birthday. I came first among the siblings. So i was tasked to welcome everybody. When my older sister arrived I went running to greet her. Unfortunately, I did not notice the protruding stone on the path and i tripped over it. I tried to balance myself so that I won't fall but in doing that, i stepped on the mud and slipped severing my little toe. It folded and bulged right away. It turned dark blue. It was so painful that I just sat and cried. it was my first time to break a bone. i can't even walk properly neither use a sandal. I asked somebody to pull it out so that it would at least straighten out and it was very painful that i kicked the person. I applied cold compress to lessen the pain and took some pain reliever so that I can rest. I hope that would be my first and last fracture because it is very painful and very uncomfortable.
