awkwardness

My best friend recently moved away and she is now attending a new school. We talk on the phone only once every two or so weeks because she had her phone taken away. Everytime we talk on the phone it seems very awkward, it's not the same as before. Have you ever been in this situation? How do you deal with it?

Me and my friend became like this when after High school. Although we are in the same college we rarely see each other. In High school we saw each other and would hangout everyday now we just text and call sometimes. It feels awkward because I haven't seen her for a long time and speaking to her about some things makes me feel uncomfortable it doesn't feel the same as before when we were in High school.
