How Many Books Do You Own?

Today I finally decided that I will make a list of ALL the books that I own. I have 4 book cases fill with books that are stack 2 rows deep. After counting the books in one bookcase, I am at book 171 and give up for today...so will continue during the week. With a quick guess I think I have over 1000 books/novels/biographies/memories/rare books/educational books etc all together. I do plan to read every one of my novels and all the educational books. Yep I am a certified book worm. So how many books do you think you have in your personal library??

Hi Gtdonna, i think that is a very interesting project you have on hand. Listing all the books is very tough, since you did not do that right from the time you started book collection. I do not keep many books at home, since my apartment is very small, and after moving house a few years ago, I stopped buying books. The public library is just 20 minutes walk away. I do keep a list of all the books read. I think I can comfortably read a book every other day. I visit the national library at least twice every month to borrow books.

Books are my best friends. I buy them mostly second hand and occasionally new. Whenever I am in a new city, I invariably end up in a bookshop. I buy books when they are cheap, and titles that I am interested in or may become interested in. At the moment I am reading books about socialist architecture, Art Nouveau buildings and written by Penny Vincenzi. I love her books because they are easy to read and have at least 700 pages. Today I bought two books one about architecture in the former East European countries. The other one is a cookery book with typically Dutch recipes. I bought the cookery book because I collect them. When I am in foreign country I buy a cookery book with local cuisine, preferably in the language of the country. This means that I have a few books I can't read. When I was in Tunisia I bought a cookery book in Arabic, and also the translation in French. It is my aim to cook once a week something I found in one of my cook books. The book I bought today was my 121st cookery book. I have no bare walls in my house. They are all covered with book cases. I am not quite sure how many books I have got, but I think about 8000, not counting the children's books. (I have kept all the books my children had and am now giving them to my grandchild. He is only one year so I can only give a few books at the moment. Most books are for older children). In fact I could start a second hand bookshop. But the thing is I want to keep all my books. They are all kind of books, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, reference books. I would love to have an e-reader but I am not sure if it is wise to buy one. I would have to start collecting books all over again.

I only have one. The Punisher. It is a pretty good book to read. The only reason I have just that is because I have others on my phone ebook. I have started reading books on my phone ever since I got an android. I like them and besides that I have to read it so I can learn to understand things more. I have trouble understanding things and it takes a while for me to capture everything in my head. It is part of my disability.

I haven’t counted how many books I have and to be honest with you, it is not a job I feel like taking on any time soon. I have two big book cases which are full plus a couple of boxes that live on my one of my coffee table shelves. My guess may not be 1000 but a few hundred anyway. Love my books!

At one point in time I know that I had over 100 books that were all by the same author, that was when I was a child and I was completely addicted to The Babysitter's Club series, but a few years ago I decided that it wasn't worth saving those books for my daughter and gave them to a women that has foster daughters so that they would be able to enjoy the books. Now, I would say that I'm still a bookworm, but I've probably only got about 300-400 books in my collection.

I'd say I have a few hundred books in my flat, but I've never actually counted them. I just love having books around me, for me they're part of what makes home really feel like home. Still, I should really get rid of some of them, because they do take up a lot of space and my flat is small. If my collection continues to increase, I'll end up keeping them in my wardrobe :P. As for making a list, for me all lists are painful ;). I wouldn't mind if somebody else did it for me though. I guess I also qualify as a bookworm :)

I'm not sure exactly how many I have. I have a tall book shelf that is packed full. A few of the shelves are stacked 2 rows high and deep. I would say probably 100-200 on that one. A lot of them are smaller books like harlequin romance novels. I haven't had much time to read but I'd like to try to read more.

You do have a number of books in your personal library. I have a lot of books, but I have never counted them for even once. Never have I thought of counting them! I bought some books, but have not really finished them or have only read a few pages of them. Sometimes it is just an urge for me to buy a book that interests me, but later on I leave it there for "show" only. Now I realize that it is better for me not buy books if I leave it behind on those shelves or drawers. This way I am not buying as many books as before to avoid resource waste. Take care, gtdonna.

I don't know how many books do I have. my daughter is keeping all my old books and informative magazines. I like readings books, but don't have much time these days. I prefer to have the readers digest where I can read short articles and documentaries. have a good day

I only have a few books. I don't collect books and I just usually borrow it from my friends. I love Dan Brown and Anne Rice. I also love epic novels such as Lord of the rings, Wheel of time and Sword of truth.

I have a lot of books in box, not a shelf seriously. The reason behind is that i keep all books way way back to my elementary days up until now. I don't enjoy reading books because it makes me fall sleep most of the time. But admittedly, it is nice to keep your references because when come across to some old terms you familiar with, you always consult your book.

Over the summer, I got rid of 250 give or take a few books. I still have bookshelves full and stacks elsewhere. I am a book worm. Right now the books I am reading are tending to be children's books because I have a three year old, and I teach fourth grade. I am trying to find good books to teach skills like predicting and modifying predictions to share with my students. If I see that there is a library sale I make sure that I attend.
