I have a technical question for all the computer geeks here. Please forgive me if it ends up sounding stupid and technically impossibleAs all of you would have noticed at some point in your mylotting history when the net speed is slow or the server is down, that the long response you sweated out to think create and were about to post just got lost in the web page cannot be displayed messageObviously,it is frustrating to see your creativity and effort go down the drain like that but more than that it is sad that the wonderful input you were just about to give in a discussion is never given because you are too irritated and tired to think and type it all over again. So my question is that is there a way that you don't lose the text you just typed by my lot saving it in a log or something which can be retrieved as and when there is a connectivity failure in between just like the messages that get auto saved in our mail boxes when they are closed abruptly?Since the copy paste option doesn't work in my lot atleast for a majority of us,won't it be a great feature to have?

There is a way to "cheat" and copy/paste your answer on myLot even if you don`t have 500 posts, we shouldn`t teach people about this but for a good reason like yours it should be fine so ok i will tell you. You disable javascript from your browser, paste the post, then enable back javascript and post it on myLot.I repeat do this only if you have a good reason for why you need to copy/paste the post.Don`t copy/paste from somewhere else because if they will catch you then you will have problems. Am i a geek or not ?

I have to admit that I've been thinking about that as well. Also, you can lose your creativity as some topics do get tossed into the trash can and your responses to the discussion with it. Well, it happens for a reason, grin and accept it, I guess. You try to make quality posts and fuss over wording, do your best to make each one sound sane at least, well try anyway only to see it go poof into some cyber cavity of the unseen. Wow, it is like the feeling you get of not having anyone read the stuff you fight over to produce (that never happens if you write)huh huh. Tough luck I guess, did you know there is a rant topic section? Overall, life can be cruel and posting can be hit and miss sometimes I guess. I am still happy though with posting responses despite the little challenges. Oh, did you know you can go ctrl c on highlighted text and then ctrl v to paste into say notepad. Only thing is, what would you do with it? Yours sincerely happy computer geek lol

Hi Bluedoll!I like the way you look at the issue, funny but insightful.I mean isn't life like that too?Little obstacles here and there waiting to piss us off!.But end of the day,its upto us to either keep cribbing about it or see the funny element in it,laugh and move forward. Thanks for the response!!

if your comment or response is too long, use your notepad first, and save it as often. if interruptions come in, you can always go the saved copy. it is frustrating. happened to me many times. i learned my lessons very well.

It is indeed frustrating for those who have not yet reached 500 as they cannot use the copy paste option. But you can hit the back button and your response/comment will still be there which you can re-send.

Hi Allknowing!Sadly, the back button never saves my stuff when i am accessing mylot from my cellphone and mostly when i am doing the same using my laptop.I can see now that fixing my browser might help.So i am gonna do just that at the earliest opportunity.

When these faults occur, your message hasn't reached mylot, so there is nothing that can be done by mylot. You have to save your work on your own computer. How depends on your operating system and browser choice.

Hi Peter! You might be right but you got to see that when I am posting,I am already on MyLot and using their tool to type.So just like the number of footprints on a website are tracked,I am sure they can figure out a way to save the unfinished work of the user too. Also,I don't think its much use saving it on my system since My lot does not allow copy pasteso in any case i'd have to retype the whole thing. Thanks for your response anyways!

I used to encounter this same error over and over again. Now what I usually do is that before I hit the "post response" button, I would copy first all the texts (CTRL + A then CTRL + C). That way whenever I get disconnected along the submission process, I have a backup that's temporarily saved somewhere in the computer's memory. I can then go to Notepad (a text editor), paste the texts I copied and save it for submission later when the server is back again.

Hi Piloncitos! But this approach only works when you have created more than 500 posts at Mylot otherwise they won't allow you to paste anything here.

Try to paste about 4 words at a time until you complete the whole set.

hi nitinshukla as soon as you get to 500 points you can copy and paste so just keep participating a lot and you will soon be at 500 so you could copy and paste to save your response.,also a hint do look in responded as often times when you think you have lost that great response it will get to the responded tab and be safe so if you retype you will now have a duplicate so it pays to check to see if it did load after all. I had that happen to me today and for awhile I though I had lost it but checked under responded and it was loaded and was there.so a lot of time mylot does save it so check under responded tab.
