Only one sees the Ghost

Have you noticed that in almost all ghost stories only one person sees the ghost? There may be others around when it happens, but at the most they get an strange feeling. Now for things that go bump in the night or lights that turn on and off there may be several witnesses but sight seems to be more restricted.

Sight does seem to be restricted. It does make you wonder why one person is allowed. I have heard of a couple of people seeing the same thing but it is rare. Maybe it is the strength of the presence or how open one is to the idea.

Thanks for the best response savypat! I am thinking you might have a ghost there stowyk! Does everyone see it or just you? @Mandolingirl...I think you might be right about that...I have this thing that makes me think that people can be as much haunted as a place is. Sometimes I wonder if it is a place at all that draws a ghost...people..they really have something to do with it I think.

It really does depend on a person's energy and whether they are compatible with the spirit's. Spirits draw on our energy to help them manifest. If one of two people sees a spirit, then that person has the right level of compatible energy, and not the other.

My guess is that there are very few rare individuals that are sensitive enough to be able to have these visions although it seems so typical of fiction stories to have just one witness to paranormal activities and the like. I have heard the occasional tale of more than one individual being present alongside visible spirits but whether they are factual or not, I do not know...

In my experience, most people would be afraid to tell anyone else if something did happen to more than one of them at the same time. A lot don't understand the spiritual side of life and don't even want to for fear of being ridiculed.

I guess only few people are 'lucky' enough to be able to see spirits. They are gifted with an extra third eye.

Some of us hear them more than see them. I can see them with my Third Eye but not in this physical realm. Some of my spiritual friends can see them as 'solid' as they were when here.

Hi savypat, That others do not see the ghost bears the mystic or paranormal happenings. Or else it would be just an ordinary thing. And as this is still unexplored area people are scared of these ghosts.

That is a good observation. I can only suggest that the suspense is better maintained when there is only one true witness. Or perhaps it is just lazy writing. Multi-sided conversations with ghosts are possibly beyond the writer's skills? Definitely an idea for a truly original ghost story by budding authors!

Personally, I think that the one person that sees a so called ghost is not right in the head. Something has to be going on up there. Look, I do not believe in this stuff because I do not think it is possible. All I can say is that when I die, then and only then will I know for sure, because I always said that I will come back, as a joke really. But if it is possible, then I will be there not haunting, but observing. Now maybe there is nothing wrong with the person, but I still find it way out in left field.

Well if I am I would like to know what the surprise is. I love watching movies about this subject and even those documentaries. But I still d not believe that it is possible. If that was the case then everyone would have encountered a ghost of some sort. Just like UFO's, there is no tangible proof or evidence.

I think that is because normally in a group setting, most people are more apt to not panic and allow their imagination take over, where as when one is by themselves in an uncomfortable environment such as a dark room that may play on some sort of underlying phobia of the dark, their mind will play tricks on them.

Yes. I think only one person seeing the ghost is a storytelling technique.
