Have you ever re-gifted a gift that you received but didn't like or no longer had any use for? I received a frame from a former boss that I couldn't stand. I re-gifted the frame to my new boss who I couldn't stand. I thought it was pretty funny, but hey, at least I gave her a gift!

I regift all the time. Never anything I don't use anymore, just stuff that is new that I got for a gift and didn't need. Like one year I got a lot of lotions and body wash sets. It would have taken me forever to use all of them so I gave some of them out as christmas gifts the next year. Or if for birthdays my kids get a toy that they already have, then I will save it in case we get invited to a birthday party and need a child's gift.

That reminds me, I have done that with children's toys as well. One year my son got many Lego sets that were the same. So, we gave a few to his friends. They were brand new and I knew his friends would like them too.

You made me laugh. I don't do such thing, not re-gift but yes,I do give away things that was given to me by other friends. But,If the gift comes from those loved ones, even if I can't use those things, I do and still keep those with me. have a good day

I won't do it to people I care about either. I would feel really bad and guilty about that.

It's a sensible thing to do. What else are you going to do with a gift that you don't care for? If you know someone who would like it and there is a gift giving occasion, why not give it to them? Re-gifting isn't all that uncommon when people want to control their money.

@hmkoct5, keep notes! Put a sticky note on it so you'll know who gave it to you...

It does make financial sense. But, knowing me, I would give the gift back to the person who gave it to me! lol! That would be bad!

I have done that. I once regifted a figurine a guy had given me, and I didn't like the guy at all, so I regifted it as a Christmas gift for one of my cousins. And once I got a DVD of a movie I didn't care for, so I regifted it to a friend for her birthday. Neither the giver of the gift nor the receiver of the gifts ever found out. I didn't do it to be mean, but I didn't want to waste it. However, I would never regift something that had significant meaning.

I do it when I have the opportunity. It makes financial sense.

That is irony at its best if you ask me. I would have gotten a chuckle out of that myself. To my knowledge and memory I have never regifted anythign except in a white elephant exchange one year, but the whole point of that is re-gift something. I honestly don't remember what it was that I put in there, but I know it was something given to me, I think it was a gag gift anyways, and what else can you really do with something like that besides give it to someone else anyways. right?

At least you put the gift to good use. I have regifted once or twice but it was usually during a rush.

Well, I don't it was nasty thing to do. I have experienced when lots of similar gift coming out on my son birth. Somethiing like towel, feeding set,clothes.etc. My wife stored in proper places and we normally re-gift to someone else baby born.

There's no harm actually to give it back from where it belongs before. But you should give it to the others and not from where it came from. It is not a good etiquette to bring back a gift that was meant to you. I bet that your boss will feel offended by your gesture. Sorry but this is my opinion, I hope that you understand!
