Traditionally it's unusual but these days it's more common. In the UK there used to be a tradition that the woman can ask the man on February 29th (in a leap year) though that's less relevant nowadays!

Although it is not something I as a female would want to do first. It seems it has become the norm for some.
Actually I am not sure it was ever considered not the norm as when it comes to love does it really matter who asks first? So as long it is something both want to do I think it is okay.
I know that in some countries it is customary for the man to be asking but I think that when two people are in love and marriage is what they want it should be okay.

To me, tat's perfectly alright. We're living in e 21st century and nowadays, there's more equality between e sexes. So, there's nothing wrong w bat.

Here in our country,thu it is the boy who proposed marriage, but a girl can ask if the boy is prepared for it.
So,it's not a big deal if the girl would ask the boy to marry her.
So i guess that depends on culture of each country.
