Does any one having own site? how to promote my site so that user traffic diverts to my site? is there any free solution? SEO does only have meta tags and all?

You can join social community and get viral. Microblogging too! Or you can have SEO, doing link building stuff to get higher keywords rankings to SERP.

I would suggest posting links your site in your blog if you have one and sign up for other blogs to promote your site.
