Ok My PC Is Doing Something A Little Crazy

I do those video value things at rite aid where you watch videos in exchange for coupons and you enter the captcha at the end to prove you watched it. Well I noticed that it would always on the first letter of the captcha i type it would make it a random number. I thought it was a way to see if you were paying attention so I just ignored it and watched my typing carefully. Well I opened Microsoft word and the first letter I typed showed up as a number. Wtf? My pc is not old, theres no damage to the keyboard, I always stay on top of checking for viruses etc so what could be causing this? Its not often just usually the first letter of captcha and first letter rarely elsewhere. Anyone have this or know whats going on? It's a laptop just out of warranty so not really wanting to rush to replace the keyboard sigh
