Dengue is on the rise, not only in the Philippines, but also in Asia. One main reason for this experts say is Global Warming. As temperature rises, the mosquitoes tends to feed more, thus the increase in the incidence of mosquito bites. Since there is no cure to Dengue yet and the vaccine will not be available in the next two years, we are left with our body’s natural defenses. That is why strengthening the immune system is very crucial. It is important that our body is always in top condition and in its optimum level to fight off diseases.

I love to travel to tropical places but don't ever want to catch dengue fever. I visited Colombia earlier this year and in different parts of that country they have dengue fever, malaria and yellow fever. It is such a shame dengue fever is on the rise in the Philippines and in some other places in Asia. I know an Australian friend had dengue fever and she caught it in Queensland in Australia. Mosquitoes can be really dangerous it seems to be.

Make sure to bring lots of mosquito repellant lotion when you travel to tropical countries. And if ever you go to the Philippines, the brand OFF! is highly recommended.

I advice that you visit the Philippines during summer, most mosquito live on stagnant water or coming from rainfalls. Maybe your australlian friend visits the Philippines during the rainy season.

Prevention is better than curing so I actually increases the immune system of my 8 years old son, plus we use mosquito net every night. I also have this tennis racket look like that can kill any mosquito in a flash. I always put on his mosquito repellent lotion and sometimes I used "katol", I thought this wasn't working but it helps a lot since mosquitoes tend to go away in any smoke!

I love those mosquito rackets! Mine broke, but I'm looking to buy one again. Instead of the mosquito coils, I use this plug-in mosquite repellant also by Baygon. I think you can buy one for less than 150 pesos. It's a small device you plug into a socket and you put in a small blue mat also manufactured by Baygon. It realeases a rather pleasant smell and keeps the mosquitoes at bay for about 8 hours.

I agree I love it, electric mosquito rackets. Mine is 2nd racket because it was also broken, it is more cheaper now than before for only 50 pesos or less than 2 dollars. Coil or katol are also relatively cheaper than the one you buy in malls cost only 4 pesos each. But what the heck we will do anything and spend everything just to protect our children. Let us all combat dengue and save our youngs.

yes, strengthening the immune system is our only way to fight off dengue and the government must have information campaigns against this health condition. Eating foods that are rich in nutrients like Vitamin C, Vitamin A and E, B-complex should be part of our daily foods. One need not have to rich to be able to eat these foods as the lowly malunggay, Munggo, Kamote tops are best sources of these nutrients.

Yeah you are right. Dengue is very common nowadays. We have to strengthen our immune system so our body's natural defenses can fight against infections and other disease causing microorganisms. We have to stay healthy always. Eat the right kinds of food. Have enough rest. Drink plenty of water. Exercise daily. We have to remember that "Prevention is always better than cure".

It's true we need to keep our immune system in top conditon. Prevention is better than cure. Along with the this we need to contribut ourself to prevent the global warming. As war a we can we need to do our best part to reduce the global warming. For exmaple simple things like abondon using of polythene covers and planting more plants etc. And mostly mosiquotes tend to satay in tidy places so trying to keep our sorounding places clean.

Indeed we need to strengthen our immune system by eating foods with lots of Vitamins and Minerals. We also need to put on lotion that keeps mosquitoes away for added protection. Stagnant water is also a breeding ground for mosquitoes so we should make it a point to eliminate these if we can.
