One Cashier

There is a Dollar store in my area and every time we go there it doesn't matter what day of the week it is the lines are always backed up! They have one cashier and the other workers are just standing around doing nothing. And it makes me kind of mad sometimes because me and my daughter had applied there several times and we are in walking distance. Would this make you angry?

I hate that no matter what store it is at! Busiest time of day and the lines are around the store cause they have only one or two registers open! They do that so they don't have to pay more salaries, and know customers aren't going to leave if their prices are good. Bad customer service doesn't seem to matter to stores these days...they know the people will return. I however, have laid my stuff down, even told the cashier as I walked out as to why I am walking out. Or once I asked for another register to be open and they said they didn't have another one, so I laid my stuff down and said, well, I don't want this stuff that bad....and laid it down next to them and walked out!

I used to work at Dollar Tree. Anytime there was 3 or more customers in line, we would always have someone jump on another register. I can't believe there was only one cashier while others stood around doing nothing. I would've asked to talk to a manager. There's no excuse for that. I've always said: "If ya have time to lean, ya have time to clean".......Think they need to clean up that store and start hiring those that want to work!
Just curious, have ya tried applying online? That's the best way to get hired there. Forget the paper apps....They usually get lost in a pile, in the office.

I have noticed whenever I go to a certain Dollar Tree there is always only one register open even though there are a bunch of other workers in the store. Only that particular store though. The other Dollar Tree's that I go to almost always have 2 lanes open if they are busy.

Hi ja hernandez rivas: Of course, this will make me feel angry. That's not fair, why don't they work harder and make the place more efficient. It doesn't make sense to me that all the work is for just one cashier when it's clear that the capacity of the store is full.

Hi there, It sucks to work in a store where there is just one cashier only. They should hire more cashiers. I did have a family business and i was the only cashier, but the other cashier was very slow. So its best to have two cashiers at least for a small business store. Yeah it would make me angry if its one cashier but long lines...to wait.

It does frustrate me. I think if an employee is going to stand around they should just be sent home. The store should hire people who want to help others not just someone who wants to be paid for standing around. I've notice on some occasions the people standing around are also rude to the customers. Their comments are snide. Best Wishes!

As a customer and an employee I would be upset! It would upset me that if they have nothing better to do than hold up the shelving why do I have to bust my butt and they are not? But you know that's at a lot of places there's no staff available or the ones there ignore the obvious.

I agree! They act like they don't really care about the customers at all, and don't seem to care if the line is backed up to the back freakin door!!!

Very. But the Dollar store at my old residence is bad at hiring people, too. Even after putting up a "Now hiring" sign, they are rude at accepting applications and never actually hired anyone. The problem is in the management, though I doubt anyone will admit to it.

I agree and there is always a help wanted sign in their window!
