Shallowness Alive and Well in the Philippine Congress, Do you Agree?

It seems that mediocracy has become a trend now, not just by ordinary people but also those who have powers and are expected to lead and nurture the welfare of their countrymen. People in the Philippine congress are supposed to be writing bills that would benefit if not all, most of the people in the country. But it feels like they are focusing more on the irrelevant, insignificant subjects that make you wonder if they really deserve a seat in the office. Examples of these incompetent bills are the "Anti-Planking Act of 2011" proposed by Rep. Winstom Castelo and the "Senate Bill 2179" or "An act limiting the amount of weight carried by children in school and implementing proactive measures to protect school children's health from the adverse effect of heavy school bag" which is proposed by Sen. Lito Lapid. No, these are not jokes (though the shallowness of these bills is quite funny). We should not be laughing. These people should not be focusing on trivial matters but instead prioritize crafting socially relevant laws that will pose beneficial effects to the lives of each and every Filipino.

In theory, that is about right those elected law makers are supposed to make law that benefit the masses in the country, but in reality, sometime it can be starkly different scenario. Many time, it is not just Phillippine has all these ridiculous and irrelevant bills written by law makers and waiting for passage in parliament, many of the Phillippine neighboring government also like to focus on silly bills that pay great attention on insignificant matters that impact no benefit to the people but only waste the national resources; man powers and government time. It is a common mentality of developing countries elected officials to focus on insignificant national subjects to keep their countries in perpetual developing stage, and remain their large portion of impoverished populance in order to receive favorable international monetary fund assistance and developed nations handout. Go figure it out yourself why waste the national available loans money to have beneficial effect on commoners, it is a lot better to benefit their own family members and cronies if the people can be fooled into voting the same political party many time over.
