how do you find or pick a trustworthy debt consolidation or bankruptcy lawyer?

a relative of mine really needs to get a debt consolidation or something and they asked me who to trust and i have NO idea! the BBB has been busted with giving companies good grades in exchange for cash so i dont want to trust them but there are lawyers and consolidations places coming out of the woodwork with the bad economy.
anyone have any ideas?
