Computers don't have any radioactive materials at all in first place, so they don't emit any kind of radiation, other than the ordinary electromagnetic waves produced by any electric device. What you're speaking about is the light from the screen. It's true that long expositions may cause some problems, like eye straining and headaches in the long term, particularly if you're using a CRT instead of an LCD. Try to keep away from the display, don't put your eyes closer than needed and take a rest every once in a while (15 minutes per hour is the normal thing to do). Also take care of your position. A bad place to seat for long periods may cause harm in your column too.

I think that by law you have right to a break of 15 minutes every hour. Is very important to take a break every hour to avoid damaging your eyes.

It is harmful to stare at the computer for long time. The screen protector is prety necessary. Someone told me that it is good to put a pot of flowever such as cactus.after you use the computer about for an our you could go out door and took some diatant point for a while.the quality of computer also is a factor that you should pay attention to.

What type of monitor do you have? If it's CRT (the older, big chunky ones) than you might have a bit of reason to be worried about your health, though you still should be fine. Any of the newer monitors (any flat screen, LCD, LED or anything like that) shouldn't harm you at all. The CRT monitors aren't even that big of a deal, and they give off much more radiation than newer monitors.

Yeah magic700 is right newer models of monitor don't release that much of radiation and if your still using the old ones just use antiUV glasses

Hi! Radiation is really harmful to our health. When it comes to computer you may put a screen protector in your monitor or avoid spending too much time in front of it.Radiation is everywhere.Even the sun's ray is very harmful nowadays. Consult a doctor if you really want to know more on how to protect yourself from it.

There are a few issues with computer radiation or any radiation. Firstly Human beings have never been exposed to so much radiation in the history of our race (by this I mean routine radiation - from electronic devices not nuclear radiation). So really we don't know exactly the effects of radiation on society broadly. The second thing is that you can never say categorically that any health effects or cancer for instance that you suffer from in the future is connected directly with your radiation throughout your life. Radiation (any source of radiation) may cause changes. These are (as far as we are concerned) chance effects. You may end up with cancer or may not. However, in my opinion, if you spend 54 hours a week in front of your computer maybe you should try and spend the rest of your time away from it! Hope this helps.
