A temporary headset?

Hi all :) Recently my friend's headset didn't function properly for unknown reasons. So she asked me to buy one if I knew any non-computer related shops that sold headsets. I did tell her that there was this bookstore that sold headsets but I wouldn't recommend buying from there as since it wasn't the shop's main focus, it might not last long. Some of the headsets I bought from there really did fail to function after a while. But she told me "Oh, it's ok. I just want a temporary headset." At which I went "Huh?" Apparently she was going to some really quality computer shop in a few weeks but in the meantime, she wants a headset so that she can watch movies without her parent's knowledge. I get that she wants to watch shows secretly but to buy something that is MEANT to be thrown away after you get another one of a better quality in a few weeks? I felt that it was just a waste of money! And the headset isn't really all that necessary either. You can just lower the volume while watching or restrain from watching while your parents are in the house or just go to the quality computer shop earlier!! Have you ever bought things that are meant to just be used temporarily? Or do you know of anyone who has?

Devices like earphones are usually temporary and can’t be used in a long period. Mainly because such devices have tiny pieces made together and with over usage, it will somehow tear out most especially their thin wirings.

yes but even so, you'll still want to buy one that doesn't spoil so quickly won't you? otherwise it would have been a waste of your money and you would've to go out and search for another one so soon too

In a way true, if you want something that is long lasting then expect purchasing at a pricey range. and even branded one's.

I dont like buying anything for temporary use, whatever it may be.I wonder why would someone need a temporary headset just to watch a whole movie with it.I guess it is not worth the money you pay.ALso, even the cheapest heaset comes with around 6 months warranty. Then how did you manage to get one that doesnt have warranty at all!

Well the ones in the bookstore really didn't have any warranty. Which is probably why it was a super cheap headset.
