I am in the process of trying to start up my own business...while I am gaining a good reputation on ebay & other sites, I am sick of paying listing fees... I try to sell my craft on sites such as etsy & madeit with little success...I try to sell second hand things & new items on ebay (the second hand items sell better than my new items but I'm selling at a loss)... I have just started a new blog on blogspot to sell my craft & other items - the benefits is that it doesn't cost me anything & I can earn from adsense...I am not sure if i want to continue it or not...I am also thinking about adding a page to my current freewebs website where I can add these items...do I continue to do what I am doing on blogger or move it to my website or do I continue to run at a loss by listing on ebay & etsy??

From my experience, you are better off being in total control of your online selling by having your own store. With Ebay, you have too many of their silly rules to comply to and too many fees. And you are just another Ebay seller amongst thousands. At least with your own site, you can customise the shopping experience for your customers the way that you want and there are lots of great shopping cart systems that you can add quite cheaply as well. Even ones that include an affiliate program so that you can get people promoting your store for you. It is more work to set up your own site, but it will be more rewarding as it is your own site and hopefully will be more monetary rewarding too eventually.

This is very true! I will have to look into that! I wouldn't know the first thing of how to build a website but I have a friend who know someone...I will definitely have to look into doing that!

Hmmm. Are you selling anything from your blog? Is there any way you can try to sell from both the blog and the website? It seems pointless to continue to sell from ebay or etsy if you're selling at a loss. I haven't found a way to sell online and actually make a good profit, whether it's new or second-hand items. :(
