first of if possible write your laptop model or configuration which is useful to figure out your issue.. it will give more accurate answer.. by the way now coming to your point.. what error are you getting while installation of XP? it may be issue of your hard disk.. you must have SATA hard disk with advance features while XP is not supporting to installation on SATA hard disk for that either you have to go to BIOS and disable SATA or use USB to detect SATA driver for XP and then install XP.. one more suggestion.. Win 7 is far far better than XP.. I am not making marketing but just think once microsoft spending in millions so it must be something good.. resource and memory now a days lesser used. as you must have 2 GB of RAM which is almost 8 times more for XP then recommended RAM so you can understand why it run more smoother than win 7 :-)

if it doesn't boot it means it don't detect your BIOS settings or hardware.. I suggest you to go for Win 7.. otherwise go to your laptop brand site (i.e. hp,dell, sony etc) and download USB drivers from there and boot your laptop :-)

@andreyeurope: I think it is because of the defects on that Windows XP installer that you bought and not of your computers. In a sense, if you can install Windows 7 in your computer why you cannot install Windows XP in the same computer isn't it? The easiest way would be buying another copy of Windows XP (but I don't think Microsoft support Windows XP updates anymore, neither selling the original copies as well) But perhaps you should consider using Windows 7 rather than Windows XP for your gaming purposes. It has already being more stable throughout these years and I believe there are many games that are now compatible with Windows 7 that it is a few years back.

@andreyeurope: Indeed Windows XP uses less RAM, but for me if your computer has 2GB RAM or more you should switch to Windows 7. My advice, you should opt for Windows 7 instead of keeping faith to Windows XP. I know it is hard but believe me, the switch will pay off eventually.

Try checking the XP installation disk if there's a scratch then probably it's the reason or if not then maybe the installation disk is corrupted try using a new winxp installation disk. Lastly, what happens when you put the disk and boot the laptop? Does it say 'press any key to boot in cd..?' Then does the blue screen appear?

Don't boot. I tried 4 CDs.

are those 4 CD's same copy (I mean you burn it by yourself). Maybe the ISO file that you burnt to CD does not have BOOT capability that is required for booting from CD. In that case try original Windows XP installation CD. Because I never heard that BIOS can prevent Windows XP installation (in that case it might prevent Linux installation also) The most worst thing happen is you can not get all your peripheral working, since there is no more support from the manufacturer for Windows XP (no driver available)

May be because you got a faulty set up disc of windows xp.Almost all recent computers can easily run windows xp. The best thing you can do is to get another copy of windows xp and see if the error exist.I always prefer windows xp to windows 7 or whatever newer version they launch just to make money out of it.XP is the best operating system of Microsoft.

Hi andrey ! I think no one can answer your question unless you tell us more details.I can only tell you that you should have no problems installing win XP on your new laptop, there is no "new hardware that winXP won`t recognize " .Try with another disk, always boot from disk and format your C partition before insalling windowsXP.(save your private datas to another partition or on an USB stick ).It may tell you that you have a better windows installed but if you format the C partition it will work.

Hi, probably your hardware is too recent and is no longer supported by XP. If you want a fast and agile operating system try to install ubuntu. You can install it after windows 7 dual boot, so when you turn on your PC you can decide which one to use.
