My grandparents often told me stories that too when I was alone with them. Mostly of old stories of Hindu Gods, apart from this grandma also told many old stories of Kings, morale stores, I really enjoyed it, my head on the lap of my grandma listening to those stories finally falling asleep. In case if I get bored I would just start to say my own stories. I wished all the kids too get that enjoyment from their grandparents…

Nice topic, I am so well versed, well almost in hindu mythological tales and scriptures only because my dad told me stories. He used to talk about Greek mythology too. The rest I read from amar chitra katha and chandamama. My grandmothers did not live with us and my dads mom was kind of strict, so no tales, but my mom and dad were good readers so they passed on their knowledge to me. My dad also binded old books like readers digest and comics so that our children could read it. I wish todays childen developed the reading habit because it will improve language and spelling.

I used to enjoy it when my Nanna told me stories when I was young. They usually weren't fairy tale stories, but more about her past, or her parents past. She used to tell me how her grandparents worked on the ostrich farm, and how they oiginally worked for Queen Victoria. One was the gardener , and they other a lacemaker, and they emigrated to Australia when their child was two years old. Nana would always leave certain aspects out of her stories though, one being that my g-g grandfather was a convict, and that my nannas mother was part aboriginal. she also denide dhte Irish part.

Hi shamrack! You're lucky you were able to enjoy having grandparents. I was not lucky to be born while my grandparents were still living. I did not experience having any grandparents. I only heard stories about them from my mother and aunts. I would have loved to experience being spoiled by a grandmother or a grandfather.

I enjoyed the stories my grandma, my aunts and my dad told - stories about my great grandfather. They were all hilarious, and I'm proud that he was a very handsome man. Too bad, he married my very plain jane great grandmother, and I think I take after her, not him. I still remember them to this day, and sometimes on occasions, we talk about them with my aunts.

Ya me too enjoyed a lot in my childhood. My grand ma use to tell stories before I go to sleep. And from those stories I learnt lot. That's the right age where we sow a seed of our thinking, how to behave and shaping up of our character. I came to know what to do what not to and how important we need to help others and many. every child must experience this

As a kid i was very much fascinated by the stories told by grand parents and even now i do remember those stories and it was really nice times which i miss now as i don't even have my grand parents with me now. Story hearing or reading stories are still my habit even at this age of mine.I do read a lot and have already bought so many books for my own collection so that i do get to read these books whenever i get time for my own things.Once you grow old, taking out time becomes little bit difficult as we will not be getting free time like we used to get in school day's

Hi Shamrack I also love and enjoy those stories that my grandmom told me. We are not living together back then but whenever she's with us, I see to it that I will sleep with her and patiently listen to whatever stories she want to tell me. Usually its about her younger years and how they are when she's on my age as well as about my mom's childhood. I am always interested to those kinds of stories about my parents and my grandparents. Through her stories, I was able to learn a lot about life and to know more about her and my mom and our family... Now that she's alreay gone...I missed her so much, her voice, her laugh, her stories, her advices...everything!

I love my gramps and old people story. I volunteered for a long time in a elderly retirement house, they are wise, intelligent, they lived things that we only dream about living so it's always worthed. They need so much someone to listen to them friends, if you have the time go and visit them, they suffer a lot, specially most of them were abandoned by their children.

I always love to listen stories from my grandma or grandpa or anyone who live around me in my neighbors because they share their own life time experience with us. I always try to learn from them and some times I ask them related questions about my recent experiences and problems. I always found their tips very helpful. So Learn from them is my motto during listening their stories.

I have not grown up to sleeping with bedtime stories. As a child i remember that my parents are too busy with work, and we do not live with our grandparents and they do not sleep over so we have got no chance of them putting us to bed to sleep with bedtime stories. =(
