Hi there! I haven't bought a new phone in 3 years, I think. I'm using iPhone 3G, the first-ever version of iPhone. I got it for a small sum too, since I used to be a big postpaid consumer. iPhone 3G was superseded by 3GS, 4G, and now 4GS... But, I'm still keeping my old one. It's still there handy. I just need to upgrade its OS to the latest version online. It would be nice to buy a new one. But... I just don't think I need it.

Hihihih.. Yeap, I guess so. But it's still working perfectly so I am not in a rush to change it. I trying to convince my hubby though to buy a new one to replace his 10-year old Sony Ericsson phone! hahaha!!

Well dear you are not alone. I am just as realistic or maybe wiser as you are. I can't spend that much on a cellphone. For as long as my cellphone still works I don't change it. I don't follow the fad when it comes to fashion. I am contented with whatever cellphone I have and will never ever waste money just for a cellphone. I would rather just keep my money or just spend it in more important needs of my home and family. I don't care if my phone is not the latest. It does not bother me at all. What will bother me is if my house is old and I could not even fix or remodel it.

Hi amelly, it all depends on a person what he wants with his life, what to do with his money. For me, there is nothing wrong with having a cool cellphone even if your only motive is to be a show-off. That is their life. The more we complain and insist that people should just settle for what's basic and cheap, the more we sound jealous. I admire that you are loving the frugal life you have. In fact, my cellphone is also the cheapest one around. But I like it for its simplicity, speed, handiness, practicality, and its flashlight. Doesn't mean I won't try to level up once I can afford. Rest assured though that I wouldn't just buy something to show it off.

I agree except I was so furious with T-Mobile after being as they quoted such a valuble customer...that I dropped my contract and had to get a new cell phone when I went on with Boost BUT I did not pay for Android or Blackberry. I got the same type of phone I had with T-Mobile. Hopefully it will last awhile I do realize the will go out eventually but like you I prefer a real computer to trying to watch a tiny screen. If I want to go to a wifi cafe I usually go with my netbook and have a few cups of tea and a yummy bagel. Have a wonderful day!

Agree with Benwang. New cell phones have their charm about new improvement of the system, new technologies, new comfigration for games and others.Smartphones are comvenient for everyday use and having fun.But just control it as a reasonable pursuit. If you have enough money for a better mobile, you can try one, then you can get it.

Oh,I think it's too crazy for keeping charging the phones.I just use it for my normal demand.I use my cell phone for texting, calling, keeping accounts, reading e-books,making notes, and sometimes I play games for relax. You konw it's so bored while wait for trains, planes, buses.I use my mobile for killing time. It's not just a phone to most of us in the day.But everything enough is enough,we use cell phones for helping us live more convenient and happier, not controlled by them.

There are a lot of people like to update their cell to the latest trend, my understanding for the cell that it just a telephone to use, i do not with the people whom used their advanced cell for other things, like camera, computer in addition for the calling.

I guess different people have different needs and/or wants. I have never been the one to keep wanting to change phone. I've had few phones in my time but all because of my needs, never really for the trends. Matter in fact, I sortta like old flip phones. Few years back, my position at work changed & I was on the road a lot. I had to keep in touch with people I work with so I got a blackberry. About 3 years later, I've gotten promoted & didn't have to go on the road as much any more so I changed my phone to a simple phone. I was with T-Mobile for close to 5 years & about 6 month ago, I had to go to business trip to Maine. T-Mobile really didn't work up there. So I went with AT&T & got a new phone. I go through somewhere between 2,500 - 3,000 minutes of work related voice calls every month. I don't play games or listen to music on my phone so I could careless about what my phone does as far as those are concerned. For past 23 years I've been using cell phones, never really had any problem with any phones I had, new & old.

I personally am not very up to date in the world of mobile telephony. However I see the media that today there are portable devices that have little to envy of the computers themselves. Although I really would like to have one but unfortunately at the moment, I do not have the possibilities. If you can,i can council you to do your business.

But in other side I better like my cell phone and maybe I don't need all who have others. and I live with thing who I have and when my cell phone will be old, maybe then I have blackberry....

The ones as you mentioned, if they are rich enough to change their handset to follow the trend, big display, capacitive touch, fantastic game experiencing...if they could afford, then let it go. If they are not rich enough and looking for some...extreme ways, like the widespread joke shows on the websites...crazy guys are selling their kidney or even selling their virgin just because they wanna get an iPhone...that would be really impenetrable.
