After the TV revenue fiasco, the next news coming out from the BPL is that the American's owner wanted to scrap the promotion/relegation. Personally, I would not like to see it happen. P&R is part of the game and it reward the team that perform well and punish those that did not. As Alex Ferguson had mentioned, there are teams with great history laying in the championship. Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United and Wednesday. Beside the winning the title, the relegation battle is always the main focus towards the tailend of the season. Some of the best games of the season is the playoff finals. Do you think this should be scrapped?

I agree with you that don't like to see it happen. It's unfair to the teams perform well in the lower level leagues. On the other hand, no challenge, no pression, I don't think the teams can play well.

Now the real challenge of having foreign owners is coming out. They want the rule changes to protect their investment. For them it is not the game, but their investments which is more important. And if they manage to get the 2/3rd majority the rule change would be in place and FA would be helpless. This will really kill off the spirit of the whole league system!! Cheers! Ram

Definitely not, relegation and promotion is what makes each season interesting, seeing what team is going to come up and what teams are desperate not to go down. In the premier league you always know what teams are most likely going to fight it out at the top but there is often a surprise when it comes to the relegations and without that element it would be almost pointless, no final day drama would be dull. It has to be said it's not just American owners who want relegation scrapped and from a business perspective for them it does make sense, any team which drops a league won't make as much money and so they just want to protect their investment. But I can't see it ever happening.

Like I always said, owners and especially foreign owners, who have nothing to do with football are the "cancer" of this sport. They have transformed the game into a money greedy industry, and the main reason of football is not there anymore. Football is a sportive competition, which is full of history, glory, rivalry and clear structures, which have to stay the same. It is for the good of the game. If the P&R will disappear, it will be no use for inferior leagues, what would be their reason? And this is Europe, not America or other continent, where the main values of everything were not based on money, but on tradition, history, respect and feelings. So we should fight for this, no matter what.
