We are planning to take a family vacation in Dubai over the Christmas time period. I would like to know what are the places to watch there from the people who have visited there. We are planning a 4-6 days trip, so we would like to have suggestions of the places and activities that can be done during this trip. Cheers! Ram

I could recommend Wild Wadi, it is a theme park of water rides, definitely the kids would enjoy. Emirates mall is also nice to see but I would prefer to go to the souqs, visit the Dubai Museum in Bur Dubai, get on board the boat that cross the creek that divides Bur dubai and deira. Also the dinner on the Dhow Boat is wonderful experience.

Is Burj Al Arab in that creek dividing between Bur Dubai and deira? If so, I have heard it is fantastic to watch at the night. Thanks for the other tips, I will make a note of these. Cheers! Ram

Burj Al Arab is beside Wild Wadi, part of Jumeira. Bur Dubai is where the old souq located and near the Dubai Museum. A lot of shops are there where you can get good bargains. From Bur Dubai you can cross the creek with a boat and you will land on Deira side, that district I think, if I am not mistaken is Al Sabka, where you can find a lot of shops too. Several cafe's and restaurant lined up along the creek side. They also offer shisha while watching the creek view.

That is nice. I have never been to Dubai, so I don't know too much, but if you have the chance, you can take a look at the Burj Al Arab Hotel(or how must be spelled). And if you have money, then spend a night there, I heard it is something which we cannot imagine. Wish you have a great time there and please inform me when you will get back, how it was. I am very curious what people can visit there.

Yes, I have heard from my brother that Burj Al Arab is a great place. He once won a chef competition and was given a couple of days complementary stay at Burj. He mentioned it as an awesome experience. Cheers! Ram

During the time I was in dubai, Burj al Arab is not open to the public, they will let you in only of you have a booking in their restaurants and rooms. To enter the lobby, I was told before that one has to pay Dhs 100/-. Now I have no idea if it's the same policy or if they increased the entrance fee.

I have seen beautiful photos of Dubai, high-rise buldings. Very impressive. I have not been there yet, and I am certainly looking forward to have the opportunity to visit. Well, have a nice trip. I am sure you will be very impressed with the city.

I've been to Dubai personally and all I can say is it's a city with a mind of its own. Staying in expensive hotels is not a must since there's so many places to go, the sole purpose of the hotel is for a place to sleep. Here's a list of things you can do: 1. visit Dubai Mall, the largest in the world, it has so many attractions and it is right beside Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain 2. Wild Wadi or Atlantis- both are waterparks but i'd recommend wild wadi since it's a lot cheaper. But if you have much to shell out, Atlantis is good too 3. Ibn Battuta Mall- it's a themed mall with nice ambiance 4. Mall of the Emirates- it has a skiing area inside complete with rides 5. Dubai Aquarium- it's one of the largest in the world, it is located inside Dubai Mall 6. Palm Jumeirah- plenty of beach resorts here Also, i would suggest using the Metro Rail when traveling. It's much fun than riding a cab. Good luck on you trip!

Thanks for your tips Rosemary. I am going to be staying with some relatives, so stay is not going to be an issue. Currently in my list of must visit spots included Dubai Mall, Wild Wadi, Ibn Batuta Mall and Dubai Aquarium. I also wanted to do the desert safari some where. Cheers! Ram

Desert safari is also fun! If you like some more adventure, you could even go to Ferrari World but it's in Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. There's also Al Ain Zoo in Al Ain. Ask your relatives. I'm sure they know a lot of all the wonders of UAE.
