I don't like being BUZZed at ym

I use yahoo messenger as my instant messaging client mainly for communicating with my friends and sometimes for meeting new friends in different chat rooms.
I love all the features of YM except for that annoying BUZZ feature which really disturbs me and often surprises me out of nowhere.
I have a friend who consistently buzz me every time she starts chatting with me and no matter how many times I've told her not to buzz me, she still do it!
If she wasn't my friend, I would have ignored her and reported her as spam just like what I do with people I don't know trying to chat with me and buzzing me every time.
So what about you? What instant messaging application you use? What features do you love about it and what features do you hate?

Hi sis!
Me too use Yahoo messenger and I will only use the buzz when I have no idea where my friends is or when I want to start chat with them. It always happen when we are in the middle of conversation and suddenly they gone and not reply to me. I will not buzz them again and again, just with a buzz is enough. It just an indication to show that whether you want to chat with me or not as even if they are available it does not mean that they want to talk with me. That was when I am into this application most when I was in college when we need to finish the assignments or discussing about tasks with my friends. Now with facebook and everything I am not into it anymore. I rarely use YM to chat with them. As I found it kind of boring when we 'need' to talk with others every single day while there is nothing to chat- no more task or assignment to discuss. So once in a while I just get in my facebook account and drop some message in heir wall.(^^)

At least you've got reasons for buzzing. My friend who always buzzes me, she buzzes me even without the need to really chat with me. She would buzz me and then not message me.

Yeah, I'll tell her that again the next time she buzzes me.

I use MSN....I used to have yahoo and I had someone that buzzed me too....and it was okay except I don't think its funny to do it all the time....yes..when you want to get someone's attention...but not all the time even during messaging!

I agree, Jill. It's not nice when you do it all the time. It's not only my friend who do this. Sometimes when I go to a chatroom, I would encounter someone who would buzz me if my reply got delayed for a few seconds or so. I always end up hating and ignoring the person. It just feels like, buzzing just because my reply got delayed for a few seconds is very demanding.

I don't like the buzz feature either. It gets annoying and disrupts my conversation when someone buzzes me. I have a friend who does that too and it does get annoying to the point that I will stop talking to him simply because he has don't it.

Same here, I don't appreciate people who do the BUZZ thing, it is too demanding for me and I think it's only appropriate if you're far away from the laptop or computer. However, if you're just close by, then I don't see the point of buzzing.
I too hate it! It's good that Facebook doesn't have such a feature.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

I agree, it really feels demanding. I wish there is an option to disable the buzz.

I do like the buzz at times because it acts as an reminder if i were to miss out on their replies.. haha :D But now i'm no longer on ym because it's slow and it drains my phone's battery life, faster than i finish a can of drink.. haha
Even on desktop, my timing is usually different from others, and none of my friends are online. With that, i detached myself away from ym since then.. haha

I don't particularly like the buzz feature either. If I haven't responded, there is usually a reason why! I get really frustrated when people buzz me. I feel like it's very pushy and demanding. It's like people who text you a thousand times before you actually get a chance to answer. Some people need to give you a chance to breathe, huh?! It gets very irritating and I wish they would get rid of it as well. The only time it has been useful to me is when I haven't realized my sound was off, so I didn't notice I got an IM.

I so agree. I always feel that a person is being demanding when using that buzz on me. And I don't like being pushed. I want to answer when I am able to. I don't like being forced. And that's how I feel when I'm buzzed.

I remember someone said that to me
to buzz him whenever I am online and I never did LOL
I don't feel like doing it, he can see me online
if he wants to say hi, he can easily do that and I will respond
a friend told me he might not see me online, not because of my settings, but because he deletes my ID
then again, what's the point of buzzing him, still? LOL

Hi Secret, same like you, i also don't like people to buzz me when i am at YM. I am also using YM to communicate with my family and close friends. It is good that my friends seldom want to buzz me, since they know i don't like that attitude. It makes me feels giddy when see them buzz me. i prefer them to type more words or using emoticons, asking me rather than using that buzz function.
