Personally, I like both, but the Jeremy Irons version did it for me much more than the older one did. I love the book Lolita, and the newer one just seemed to ring more true to me. And that's very unusual, because I usually am not a fan of remakes. But, this remake was unusually superior.

I didn't see the Jeremy Irons flick and it's been so long since I saw the James Mason version that I cant remember. Probably shouldn't have answered this post but just thought I would help out a friend and bring it back up in the list.
