Do you think TV channels should be controled by Censor Board?

The television has become a part of our life. We get to know everything through TV channels. But on the other hand, I think they are going beyond control. Recently I'm seeing lot of commercials that are creating embarrassment while we watch with family. (And it's some kind of demoralising women. That's a separate issue.) We can control our children what to watch and what not to, but these commercials appear in every channel. Though children don't mind it, it's some kind of embarrassing. Do you think a Censor Board or Regulatory Board should be controlling the television channels?

Actually Government is thinking to make such regulatory board but problem is also Government servant. Lots of officer in Government have some shares in most of TV channel. They always create problem if government try to make anything progressive.

Hi Venky In Indian Scenario, nothing will work. Did you see 3 Idiots? It got passed with U certification for most of the states and it had many scenes where they were dropping off their pants and it was fine with the Censor Board. Again there are many such Movies that get passed and not to mention those that do have an A (for Adult) viewership but school kids too can be found inside the theaters vieweing them The problem is that the Regulatory Commision or whatever, exists and they can Ban the FTV or even the MTV but not do anything about these scenes that they show on the Television. I dont see it anything healthy showing the great Fight of Indian Commandoes and Kasab and Company and also the brutal killing of Gaddaffi on the news channels as at homes there are children who frame ideas

Hi Sidhu Many times I just felt for not learning Hindi. Well. In those days, I'm ashamed to say this, there was movement against Hindi. So, gradually Hindi has gone out of our state from school, college and offices. Later, after getting job, I didn't find time to learn. (I'm saying this, just to say that I don't watch Hindi movies. ) The Government machinery is functioning in a way that whatever they do is least considered by the public. Whatever matters big to the public, doesn't reach the ears of the officials at all. Yes. I agree very much with you. People were watching the Commando operation as if they were watching a cricket match. I really hate that attitude.

I actually think so it is very much required. If movies require censor, then TV should have much more stringent rules as it has more reach-ability. I would really like to see programs such as Axe the Ex and Emotional Atyachaar to be closed down as these are really stupid and vengeful programs that give really a bad taste in the mouth. Also not sure from a legal stand point whether they can do such activities. Cheers! Ram

Good point. If moves should have censor, why not TV channels that depend on movies largely have censor?

I live in Canada. And our TV is controlled by the CRTC. Canadian Radio and Television and Communications board. It's a government agency tasked with regulating radio and television channels including content. It is not pure censorship, but it is close.

That's quite good to know. Here in our country, almost all kind of sh*t come to our drawing room directly. (violence, mature content etc.) It is weird to see a model posing with bikini for a bath soap.

I agree with you that the information and broadcasting department should also think over think over this and set up a censor board to regulate and edit television programs inorder to expurgate and make it a worth viewing together with all family members .
