I know a weird question but I'm curious. I Never eat raw cookie dough.I don't even taste it like I do with cake batter. I have heard that many think it can make you sick because of the raw egg in it. Me? I just can't understand Why anyone would want to eat it raw when in a few minutes , you can have a warm cookie.

Never cookie dough. Never. I always as a kid scrapped the bowl when my mother or grandmother made chocolate cake or brownies. But cookie dough is not something that turns me on. I do like the finished product, or at least I used to. The raw egg does not bother me, it's just the look of it.

My granddaughter loves cookie dough....so when we bake I have to limit what she eats. I am not sure about getting sick from it....they put it in ice cream and no one wonders that.....hummmmm.....

I didn't mean to make you worry. If she always has some and she hasn't gotten sick , then she is ok .

hi sarahruthbeth no it would taste evil I would think and could hardly be v ery healthy. Yes y ou should not eat raw eggs as most are contaminated with salmonella and will give you food poisioning and who needs that. It only takes a few minutes to bake and cool them off enough to eat. warm cookies are delicious but alas not for me . I have diabetes.they have to be s ugar free.

Yes I am the same I can't imagine eating raw cookie dough. What comes to mind is that it could make me sick. But then I think about those that eat raw cookie dough ice cream that they sell in the ice cream shops. I have to assume that does not make people sick, but I can't somehow imagine eating it. Oh gosh yes in minutes the warm delicious cookies are ready. lol

I recently saw a program about how a group of people ended up hospitalized for fatal complications from eating raw cookie dough. I'm almost positive some of them even passed away from it. After seeing that, I could never bring myself to eat raw cookie dough. I used to love it as a kid. My friends and I would actually just buy a thing of Pillsbury or Toll House cookie dough just to keep in the fridge and pick at raw. After seeing that documentary however, I think I'll be staying away from the cookie dough! I get why people eat it though, it tastes SO good. Sometimes even better than the finished result of a nice, warm cookie.

No!!! lol sounds a lil weird well if you do like to taste raw cake batter i think they taste the same since some cookies are actually cake batter with lesser water content. Enjoy eating your warm cookies!

That's the whole point. Cake batter is more like pudding or that is what I'm looking for. And I only have a enough that fits on a finger. But to eat something that is thick as play dough? No thanks.

I love raw cookie dough! If you have never tried it you have no idea what you are missing! My sister and I used to whip up a batch of cookies just to eat the cookie dough! lol. Or my mom would buy already made cookie dough that was frozen and we'd sneak it out of the freezer and eat it. yes it is possible to get salmonella from raw eggs, but you can get it from eating dippy eggs too. In all my years of eating cookie dough I've never had a problem with it and neither has anyone I've known. I think the chances are pretty slim.

I think that raw cookie dough is really good. I have eaten it since I was little and I don't think I ever got sick from it. You say that you can't understand why anyone would want to eat raw cookie dough, but have you ever tried it? I think that if you had, you would understand why. Chocolate chip cookie dough is the best of course.

I'm a very picky eater. The thought of peanut butter and jelly makes me ill. So I am not so sure I will ever try cookie dough.

As a child my mom would give me the beaters to lick. Then when I started to make cakes , I would always taste the batter to make sure it is Just right before putting it in the oven. But to eat it like pudding , no , I don't. I don't even lick the beaters anymore.

I've seen this in movies. Where they unwrapped that cylindrical ready-to-bake cookie dough, and they take a bite at it. I don't think it would make me sick if I took a bite at it, but I'm with you. Why would anybody eat that? Why not bake it? Which would only take a few minutes, and be just warm cookies. I love cookies!

I've never eaten it. Only the idea that is cold make the desire not to eat it. Further it's possible that raw eggs can cause disease.

As I Know, there a lot foods people eat when it is still raw. Example, someone like to eat the beef in a little raw, because it would be softer than. In Japan, there a food called shushi people also eat in raw. In my country, there is a food called "pig blood soup" or some thing like that, I dont know what it is called in English. Almost of them are is very delicous as so many men tell me. but I think they are not very lean, they are terible. i am sick when I think about them, I never ate them. I just want to advise people that do not eat anything harm for your health athough they are how delicous. there are lot of othet good food you can find out.

I do some times eat cookie dough but not a lot. If you do have to much you can get sick from it and die. I normally only have cookie dough in ice cream. Normally when I'm making cookies or buy cookie dough I just put it in the over and cook it. Even when it comes to bakes or brownies I never eat the batter raw because it has raw eggs in it most of the time. Cookie dough is some yummy when cold.

I love cookie dough! I don't think that it can make you sick unless you eat a lot of it! It's really good while eating vanilla ice cream. Super yummy! I'll make cookie dough just so I can eat it. I'll end up making cookies too, but it just seems to lose something after it's baked. Don't get me wrong, the cookies are great, but it's just not the same!

Whenever I make chocolate chip cookies I end up eating more of the raw dough than I do the cookies themselves. My kids love it too. It is funny because I will not eat a fried egg if the white is even a little bit runny, but I will eat cookie dough that has completely raw eggs in it.

I would have done when I was a kid, but I'd rather wait for the cooked version now. So much nicer!

I don't eat raw cookie dough. I'd prefer eating a well-cooked cookie. I particularly like those that my mom bakes back then. It comes with chocolate drops inside. After you take a bite, that's when you'll taste the chocolate.

When we were kids we would fight to taste the dough off mother's hand which she would knead to make cookies and stuff. Looking back, I now feel and wonder to what extent kids could go!
