Arsenal went on to beat Stoke City 3-1 to extend their winning sequence to three matches on the trot. Again this was a labored victory and an ugly win if you like. In the first half Arsenal took the lead through Gervinho, only to find Stoke equalize from a free kick through Crouch. It looked that this would turn out to be another draw, Arsene Wenger sent in Robin Van Persie. And for the second time Wenger's substitution created magic with Van Persie knocking in two goals in the last 10 minutes to win the match for Arsenal in the end. With this win, Arsenal move into the 7th spot in the table. Cheers! Ram

Agreed. An ugly win is still worth 3 points. So in the context of the season, it is a very important win for Arsenal. With this they move onto the 7th spot in the table. Cheers! Ram

7th? How many clubs are there? And Who are the first 6? Are these too many questions?

There are a total of 20 clubs. The top 6 clubs currently are Man City, Man Utd., Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham and Liverpool. Arsenal is lying after these six in the seventh position. Cheers! Ram

thats good result for arsenal.. i know that this make your happy ram because your club is win tonight.. i do hope this result is good too for mentality of arsenal...they are deserved to be listed in champions league next season..and it`s weird for me when the position of arsenal is far away in city as the leading of standing.. van persie again become an inspirator for Arsenal...i do hope this result can make he stil stay in arsenal

Yes, it was a good result for Arsenal. More importantly it has been a great week for Arsenal as they have won three games on the trot now for the first time this season. But what is still worrying is the fact that they continue to concede goals from set pieces. The defense is really really poor!! Cheers! Ram

@ram: New defense needs time to coordinate. I am sure that Arsene Wenger will find the solution for stabilizing the defense and Arsenal will not be so vulnerable at set pieces anymore.

No, but this does not look like a lack of coordination. For e.g. Mertesacker has simply lost his pace, he cannot track back when the players hit back on the counter. Similarly Andre Santos has really disappointed me with his heavy touch and a lack of understanding of the critical moments in the game. Cheers! Ram

It is time Arsenal learn to win ugly. It is better than playing beautifully but lost the game. So, I will take this victory, no matter what. After a poor start, they are starting to win some games. But they need to work on their away form, preferably starting with Chelsea this coming weekend.

Yes, it is time for Arsenal to learn to win ugly. But for the Arsenal faithfuls it is like a move back in time to the old boring boring Arsenal. We are so used to the fast flowing game. But of course, 6 years without a title hurts!! Cheers! Ram

This is how a struggling giant has to play, in order to make up the lost ground. The points are the most important now and even if they are taken with ugly football, it shouldn't matter. I am sure after stabilizing the team, Arsenal will start making spectacle again.

Arsenal needs to qualify for Europe next year also, so points are vital for them.
