The missing points..

A very good day to all of you fellow Mylotters! Reading is one of the main sources of our knowledge and understanding. We all read books. Some often, some very rarely. I myself seldom read books coz it's time consuming and one of the thing that worries me is that I keep on missing the points that I've went through. I don't want to have to read it all over again, because books that require comprehension often have chains of information, which you ought not to miss otherwise you won't be able to understand fully as you go on further. So how do you guys do this?

I like reading books. Especially fiction novels. If they ever refer to an incident that was mentioned a few pages back which I don't remember, I'd just continue reading. After a while, it would come back to me and I would understand. If not, I'd just flip back and reread the event they were referring to.

Oh that depends lol.If the chapter was interesting, I might reread the whole chapter. But usually I'd just scroll through the paragraphs till I found what I was looking for.

If I like a book, I find it easy to concentrate and I never miss out on important things. It just draws me in and I follow the plot effortlessly, without thinking about it. If I don't like a book, I don't read it (unless I have to, but that's another story). My advice is to find something that you like and just read without worrying that you'll miss something. Go with the flow and enjoy the experience :).

Exactly Liliac! How true :)) Naturally you won't miss out anything if you really enjoy reading a book., but how about educational books? You don't really wanna read it but you want the information in it ?

I'm more of a novel person :D (you can learn a lot from novels). I guess that when it comes to non-fiction, some self-discipline needs to be exercised. But summaries, notes, wikipedia and such may solve part of the problem.

I rarely read books now that I got hooked with online activities. But when I was still very fond of reading books. I used to try to finish it in one day or within the week because like you said it's really hard missing some important things in the book. Especially if this a thriller type of book ^^
