Yes, growing herbs is a necessary thing with my vegetable garden. We use them to freshen the vacuum cleaner bag, make tea, add to salads, and make coughdrops. Some are companions to the tomatoes and vining plants also.
Basil, White violet, horehound, dill, mint, catnip, salad burnet, sorrel, and others. always adding them from year to year.

According to the certificate, I'm a qualified horticulturalist. Herbs are incredible things to grow in your garden. I've grown thyme, lemon thyme, chillies, rosemary, sage, basil, wormwood... well, anything I could find, really.
I think the guys at the nursery were getting worried at one point.
Herbalism is a truly fascinating study, and every single one of them has a use. Wormwood is a great insect repellant, one way of keeping pests away from your garden plants. Chillies will give you a lifetime supply from one plant. Chamomile is good for your other plants, and improves soil biology.
Cooking your own food with homegrown herbs is an experience I'd hope everyone would have. Experiment, and you'll love herbs, both as cook and as a gardener.
Very important: some herbs are toxic, and you should always be careful if you've got young kids around, and make sure you know the risks.

Herbs are necessity in the kitchen. I like using basil, oregano, and thyme best when making homemade soups and pastas dishes.

I tried to grow my own herbs, but the bunnies ate them. LOL My favorite herbs are parsley & mint but I like a lot of others as well.

We have an herb garden with different mints, parsley, catnip, dill, violets, sweet annie, sorrel, horseradish, feverfew, and a few others. some we cook with, one is for the cats, a couple we used to freshen the vacuum cleaner bag and then some for tea or soup. Basil is grown with the tomatoes since they have an affinity for each other.
