Blunt or Polite? supposed to be at mylot..

Hello Lotters,
I don't know what hit me today when i remembered this incident few days back. Not sure if that person did it, but a few days ago that user quit mylot because of the kind of social environment that is happening in mylot recently. can't remember exactly, but the person was ranting about same discussions over and over again, then a scenario where they become polite and pretentious on their post(respond,commeent, etc) while they back stab that person by saying how they hate or annoyed by whoever it maybe.
Well, that's their opinion. In all honesty I hate the blunt and frank part if you don't try adding a polite MODE in it, that's just my opinion since i can be less sensitive in my post too
. Have seen a bit of mylot was before the politeness started appearing. another frank thing about me is that i can sensitive sometimes and tend to misinterpret words that i think kinda rude. but I do agree about the Neg rating bias when ever a person just tries to be honest. unfortunately, that's just the way things here
and only the management can do something about it (if they wanted to)
I don't know but maybe Following the guidelines is still the best there is. some people can be polite, frank, cheerful and blunt, what ever. the fact remains we are all and still different people across the world.
I still think as well that strong understanding, tolerance and respect should remain within the norms of every single mylotter.

I have learned the personalities of some members and know what to expect when I see one has replied to one of my posts. Sometimes I let it go, other times I have my say, but I always know when to back down, because it isn't worth a deleted post over a difference of opinion..

I am also shy Leteran, but will speak my mind as far as my beliefs go, and if someone wants to continue to argue, they can do it by themselves, because all I can do is tell the truth and then pray..

Hello Carmel, Same here i have seen attitudes of mylotters revealing itself as time goes by. fortunately only a few people in mylot knows how introvert i can be in real life hahaha
. but recently, I've only wanted to be neutral in my post, at least try my best to do that. you're right it's not worth of post deleted and besides people can read our discussions

What I do is to always respond in a polite way, even if I don't agree with the point of view of my friends, I don't like to write with bad words or making the others feel bad, I think that everybody have the right to express themself without being censured or something like that.
In my case i happened that I wrote a discussions about how real and good is God in my life, that day I had a 9 star and when I woke up the day it was a yellow one.
I think we have to respect the beliefs of each other and somebody wants to be atheist respect him/her and if somebody wants to be christian recpect him/her too.
"Respect means treat the others like you want to be treated".

Rosa, It's actually not that worth and not to mention it will remain in your blog not unless some one wants it reported and have it deleted instead. well, I want to be treated with decency and politeness. this is some thing that i will practice from now, because it's my choice and at least I am honest about that

letran you summed up things nicely but while she was right in a lot of things, she also did not live up to your last sentence. she herself had been guilty of the things she was ranting about. I am too sensitive but I have found the great majority of mylotters to have a strong understanding, respect and tolerance, which she in some of her own discussions was short on tolerance herself.
I do take umbrage at being classified as a kindergarten and
a zoo. I mean yes there are a few who may be backbiters and insincere but to label all of us as kindergarteners or zoo freaks is rather childish.I wish in my heart of hearts that mylot would take that neg rating tab completely ou t. if a discussion is bad enough to rate neg than report it,do not abuse the neg key as thats really wrong and can hurt your own standing here.I found that user to be upset over many things in her own life and to be most intolerant of a lot of things here. If she found real wrongs being done she should have reported inside of flaming all of us and quitting like a spoiled child herself.She was on my friends list but truthfully I did not find her all that much of a friend myself.Sure there may be some here who are insincere but I have found most all whom I interact with to be kind, sincere, understanding people.human beings have never been perfect as only our creator is perfect.

Yeah i notice that too but i decided not to dwell much on ranting because i know she might respond back with kind of a negative tone.I do understand her being honest, but some times we have to show discreet on how we express things. with that, i stop responding to any of her discussions. anyways, I respect her post and her decision since she's one of our respected veterans still

I think the MyLot community is just like the ‘real’ world. There are all kinds of people that make up the world and they are all unique. Unfortunately some are not as polite as others and disagreements are bound to occur. I guess we have to deal with one encounter at a time and if there are issues we should attempt to deal with them in a tactful manner but, alas, the world is imperfect!

Hello Paula, You're right Paula, this also can represent the real word but there's one thing that can't be tolerated here and that is rude language and rude people. we have to show our maturity here even though we are at stage of ranting. something that people should understand while following the mylot faq

Hello Ybong, Unfortunately oldies can't always hide if they want to start trouble, I have seen one user in the past who has kept trolling around some users simply because he had self problems. and another one who pretends to be some one else, i guess mylot respects our secret identities but people use it to trouble others. have anice day.

Another casualty in mylot? I don't see why anyone should take a speedy exit when a little confusion or misunderstanding arise. I am totally out of date of what transpired here lately but after reading the post of surrendering all active participations from a vocal member here, I sensed politics is brewing in mylot and the loser no longer feel right to be worth her time here. So be it but don't leave bad words as a farewell gift to people who are still active dealing with the daily challenges here. We are matured thinking society here and should not take matters too personal and treat the good parts as a valuable knowledge and the bad ones as a lesson learned.

MyLot is full of such wonderful people...But I agree, some people can be way too rude. They just take everything too seriously and have a superior complex. Not everyone on here is like that, in fact, I find more often than not people are wonderful on here...But there are some people who can be snippy and crude. I guess there's always people like that in a bunch though. Not everyone is always going to be nice. There's a way to be blunt and to the point without being heartless and degrading. I wish people would understand that. Being rude doesn't make you honest or straight forward, it just makes you rude.

Helo Lilblondiemjd, I think some people are bred to be frank and expect too much from other people who cannot behave the way they do. As long as they remain anonymous, the chances of them being rude is high with out being detected by other people who they really are. I think there should be a place for people to be blunt or be tough. Have a nice day.

In forums like this also as in normal societies --you have people who are proud of themselves, their achievements--you also have people who are humble, calm, quiet and understanding--apart from this you also have via media people.
I will classify myself under the third category. There have been occasion when some people use to make high handed remarks-- I will just brush aside these. We have people who are more understanding and who give a helping hand. Such people are also here in this forum only.
Over 6 decades of existence --I have come to know -- nobody is big--nobody is small -- all have important role in life. Forums will run with or without the presence of anybody including ourselves.
Nobody will listen to others unless the person who is telling has got power to influence.
Life is a cycle of events -- you get happy moments -- you also get unhappy moments. Just as day comes after night -- good things come after bad things.
Tolerance level is different for different people. I wish and pray I should have more tolerance not only in real life but also in cyber life.

Hello Ravisivan, I guess she had enough when she couldn't bear hearing their back stabbing rants against each other. No doubt she lost her tolerance for people who are not use to be blunt with each other.Well back then people aren't much of a liberated but there are still back stabbers there. well, not sure if am torelant over everything but you know I am only human. have a nice day.

For most part I think we all are polite to each other. But with words if we misread words we could get a different meaning out of it. I think if the is the case it might be wise to read it twice before jumping on the person and having a hissy fit.
Frank is always good, so is honestly but how you say it speaks volumes. Just because many of us have different views doesn't mean we can't be respectful of each other!

Hello Amfrye, That's the problem sometimes with some people, but I am not exempted from this trouble too. we have different cultures, norms and dialects, some times even the way we speak english can be misunderstood too. but that's a long process, that's why we have mylot here so that we can interact and learn from one another. I agree with you and I think I have seen that post yesterday, i just did not give any comments on her because anyway she was leaving. And if I oppose or agree on what she says I might be one among those she considers impolite or acting to be good. Ranting about people who PM her towards their dislike with another mylotter whom they give a good reply is something she can just ignore. I am new here and reading most of the discussions and responses, I can sometimes be rude if I don't like what the comment was put on in my discussion. Some people can be so annoying but you are right we should understand and respect people from different worlds, we have our own honest opinions, and if we shouldn't be in any forums like this if we don't wanna receive such comments and PMs.
