Wow! really? either it was some great hoax or it's a really SICK joke that blogs had been putting up lately. but when i saw it literally on the news a few days back, i was like What The?!! A lot of land could have been bought in the US of A, but why does it have to be an old historical GHost town? is it simply because of money & they're gonna blasphemized the place(?) and turned it into a Worshiping Temple?or something? Mind you, there's added expenses where they put security there! I cannot believe this! one of the Philippine Based Church Christian Religions bought a freaking land in US while there is a serious flooding going on some where in province in my country! Not to mention there's a lot of their worshippers also suffering in flood... Maybe am just reacting simply because they bought a historical property and not the usual empty lands! Not a referral link. http://mabuhaycity.com/forums/pinoys-north-america/16894-iglesia-ni-cristo-bought-ghost-town-south-dakota-us.html http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/10/08/future-unknown-for-south-dakota-ghost-town-bought-by-church/

It must irk your cookies to realize you don't get to decide what others do with their money. I wonder, are you just as welcoming of other people telling you what to do with yours?

Hello ParaTed2k, there is no way that am going to buy a historic land! It's a bad reputation indeed that they have shown here. according to their view, they are spending it where it should?! I'd rather built an apartment instead of just buying an old historic land. I can't believe people there aren't doing something about this? I find it impractical....

Other than it being a ghost town, what is historic about it?

You are absolutely right, just one among those many properties bought from different countries, they are also the buyer of the Protestant churches. And right now, they starts with making the biggest Dome arena in the world. http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fmanila-paper.net%2Fphilippines-inc-building-worlds-largest-dome-arena-in-bulacan-photos%2F9441&h=RAQHSFZ-uAQHM41D9A62TyHfu0_Erja6sY2GFjp6NfFIaww

Hello Gelaya, I don't mind about the dome as long as it's for the community and the people and not stepping on some historical structure. what bothers me was a old city that they prfer buying and use it to make another worshipping place for them. i haven't seen any updates on it lately. have a nice day.

Yeah Bro! I knew this already long time ago, I think last year but I forgot where I have read it. They also having the largest sports complex or a stadium in the country in Bulacan, the Philippine Arena. It only means they have a lot monies or funds. I thank God for them and I wish the best for them. And I also wish that all of these are for the glory of God's will and not by their own will or for their own sake, pride or ego.

Hello Gjbaigar, Well, I actually compliment them for building the largest Stadium in our country. You're absolutely right, it was the media who caught an attention to this and they didn't brag about it. And they are so quiet and not so politically involved that Politicians go to them instead of going to the Roman catholic Church. anyways, thanks for the heads up. have a nice day.

The Assembly of God, a far more dangerous sect, virtually own a town in Australia, where they indocrinate their ministers. They have every legal right to do so in our cultures, It still worries me. Lash

Hello Grandpa_lash, WOW! that is way way scary, you never really know what they are doing in that town. maybe it's really some sort of brainwashing going on there? a lot different religions are still look alike cults, you never know they might be going into scandal like catholic instituation is going through also. have a nice day.

It is there money. I don't like their religion but we have no say about what they do with their money. The money they get from their believers were "willingly" given. I find that INC's ways are too crude and controlling. Requiring your people to give you money to go to heaven isn't my kind of religion. Anyway, we can be assured that the land will be used according to their doctrines and beliefs. If they'd rather buy land than help people here in the Philippines, then we can't really do anything about it

Hello Knicnax, It's what religions do, before the Roman Catholic Church does the same thing, but now most of them are doing this because of the charities that they do not only for the poor but also for the Seminaries who are studying for priesthood.as for me, it's a better done in creating a business commercial for the benefit of new business and more employment to people. have a nice day.

So what if they bought the land ? You should know that a lot US based weird churches own a lot of properties in other countries, religion is a big business and they are all doing the same thing.Maybe they are nice people and they will help the comunity there who knows ?

Hello Iuliux, I hope so but the people there are kinda curious and afraid no doubt. well, i have known some of them and i can clearly say that they're nice. but it just shook me though. It's hard to believed if they will built churches just to help other people with out converting them to be part of the religion. but if that is the case, then it's good. have a nice day.

Nothing wrong with that - it's cheaper to buy unused land than to buy near cities. By the way, "ghost town" doesn't mean it has ghosts - it means there's no one living there. Just in case that's why you thought it was odd.

Hello SpikeLobster, Well, I guess you're right the place is empty anyways. but I wonder why no rich citizen there would want to buy or take of that property? anyways, I still didn't feel it was right knowing that it's indeed historic. I wonder if they would regret that in the end i think. hope not. have a nice day.

Well, it might be true. Nothing is impossible. I haven't read about it, but if it is Iglesia ni Cristo who did that, it is really possible. There are charity works being done to those flooded places I am sure of that. They have funds for the Lingap, which is how we call it.

Hello Mimiang, It is indeed possible but i didn't know they have a separate funds for the poor and those who have been in trouble in life. anyways, their choice indeed and person like me can only complained about it. but it's nice that they are just doing it just to mke more churches though.have a nice day,

hello LK, Well, your observation is right my dear brother. Why not help a lot of our countrymen who are suffering than buying that piece of land So much to help with, and so many homeless kids, families, to help with. Nice observation

Hello Jaiho-sis, Any one can have that observation. I won't mind if we are a develop and rich country it wouldn't be too much obvious but we are a poor country and seeing this reminds me that they should have prioritize their money a lot of more than buying land for worshipers..

Well...that's their money. Maybe they have plans for getting more members there....I just hope they think many times before spending their money.

Hello Mspitot, Indeed it's the organizations money but who am I to judge, i just can't believe with our situation in the economy they had the guts to build their churches and buy lands that is supposedly a US historic old land. well, if the new church can be a good influence to the community even at the point of not getting them to join the religion, that's fine.have a nice day

I'm afraid many churches are just crazy. I find it interesting how many churches can buy beautiful and expensive stuff but don't do charity or help who REALLY need. They really have money huh? Buying a town! I wouldn't go to this church even if it was the last on earth. If they have money, they are a bussiness not a church.

Hello Katie, Well one of their people mentioned that they have a different group or organization for that. It's supposed to be a charity and spread of religion but it has ended up as spreading the word and getting more members. Nothing we can do except whine about it, some people mentioned that it's really another populous that has the majority of the Voters. Have a nice day.

I am not so surprised that the Church of Christ buys lot of lands nowadays. They are spreading their religion. They are also constructing Philippine Arena, the biggest domed stadium in the world. I am a member of this church.A temple is under construction in our place right now,and this one is huge.

Hello FerbJohn, I am no longer surprise about this huge churches and some of the branches abroad but why does it have to be in the US historic land? One said it was cheaper, i still don't know the real motives besides the fact that they want to spread the Pinoy version of Christianity. I bet it's going to get bigger and one day be dominant than the Roman Catholic church or any other christian religion for that matter.

Well, it is a good decision to buy the land because it is very cheap for an 18-hectare town in USA. The church has a great vision to spread in the whole world to propagate its teachings. The land will not be stagnant. Hectares of land in QC Phil, formerly a barren land, was turned into a temple complex with a lot of mega-infrastructures. They also have a lot of outreach and socio-civic programs to help its members and fellowmen. Hello statisko, SO, you mean to say that if INC built a church there and replace that old historic place, then it would create more businesses and jobs simply bcause the inc had just put it there. if that's the case they should built their churches in the Philippines, particularly Mindanao!!
