Fake Pants Pockets

I understand sometimes fake pockets are placed on pants (and shirts and other clothing) for fashion purposes/aesthetics, but why do they sometimes even place the actual pocket on the pants and sew it up so it cannot be used? I have a few pair of pants that have extra pockets with the silk pocket under the clothing, but it's sewed up so nothing can be placed in the pocket. Why not just put the outline of the pocket rather than an actual pocket??? Or why sew it up?

I know what pajama jeans you are talking about... I have a few pair of work pants and some khakis that have the fake pockets. It's just silly to me! Oh well, guess I have no fashion sense!!

I don't think fake pockets are useful, even for fashion. If it looks like a pocket, then it had better be a pocket, for crying out loud. I think pockets are a good idea, because they are practical. Fake pockets are not practical. I am legally blind, and can often get tripped up by fake pockets. If it looks like a pocket, then it really ought to be a pocket.

There are jackets and the like that come with the pockets that have been threaded closed I always assumed so things would not be placed within the pockets or for them not to go lax, the thread is easy to remove then to use the pocket but actually sewn shut I have only seen a few times. If the pocket exist and it is properly made I just remove the stitching. Fashion sometimes has senseless things it it the same as the double or triple pocket flap on jackets or buttons that don't do anything. The worst thing is having a pair of trousers with drawn on or fake pockets and no pocket to put anything in.

to makes no sense to me,even though it's fashion.but a lot of people want pants with pocket, now a days. these designer are trying to be creative now a day,so that they can have a better market for their clothes. but for us who is buying want some that we can wear and use the pockets an them as well.some of these designer are only thinking about them self when they are designing these clothes. But to me it make no sense to make a pants with pocket an then sew it up,are just put the pocket print their.place pocket on clothes to be use,and not for fashion are style.

I do have the same experience and I just don't understand what are they trying to do.I think it's for fashion sake. You might want to check out this site www.lifo.com. It is an online home for information and comments on girl's interests whether it be the latest Hollywood gossip, or tips on the trendiest fashion. I've tried it and it's fun.

When I was a kid and I bought jeans, the main button on the middle was always closed. It was up to us to put a slit in it so it could accomodate the button. Maybe it's the same principle here. So that if the buyer wants the pocket, he or she can cut it out knowing that it's already done underneath. Maybe...
