Real ladies don't fart, right?

women don't pass gas - passing gas in public

[i]The mystique has been shattered for me! I was in a store last night picking up a few things before going home when I saw this lovely lady all dressed up in business attire, her face burried in her Blackberry. As I just passed by her, she ripped one out! It wasn't a very flattering sound, and I moved quickly so I wouldn't catch any whiff. So, how do women keep this mystique up? How come most men don't think ladies rip one out once in a while? Is this the reason why women always seem to be in the bathroom all the the time? Or are men just pigs because we don't hide it from each other?

Sorry we do not fart, we release a little natural breeze. Yes I think some women are just a bit more conservative and if they can help it will dash off to a private place and release. Where some men do not and let it rip just about anywhere. Now I am saying some right as I know this one lady who gives two licks and roar just about anywhere. lol Nature does not discriminate and sometimes, regardless of the gender they just have to come out.

I guess this 'natural breeze' do come in different odors then. It's just that some are more foul than others! I think 'a way with words' is when ladies excuse themselves to dash off to someplace private to release the 'natural breeze'!

This reminds me of when some say they do not sweat they perspirate. We do have a way with words.

Its not a matter of male or female its a matter of class, there is a time and place for everything and while holding in gas may be uncomfortable it certainly will not kill you to wait until you are in an appropriate place, such as the bathroom or alone. The woman in the store may have been dressed nicely but obviously lacks class, I guess it all depends on how you are raised but I know in my house as a child and my home I provide now for my children passing gas in front of people is simply not allowed, it may be a natural bodily function but lets face it so is going #2 and we certainly wouldnt do that in front of people like it was no big deal.

It hasn't been hard for me..lol...we are just ninja about it. My children are almost grown and they actually tease me because they have never heard me do it. They even make up sounds that they think it might sound like if I did. They laugh the hardest when they make a high pitched tooting sound and say they bet it is how I sound.

Thanks for the best response! Don't worry..I do the occasional ninja jump and hang out the window long enough to do it then spring back in to the kitchen like nothing happened.

Haha! You must be a pretty good ninja! If even your kids are left guessing on what it really sounds like! Just make sure you don't keep it in all the time. They say it would come out some place else if you did. Thanks Jen.

Haha piya84! So very true! Not only that, also the art of pretending not to do it while blaming others. Thanks.

I believe it is more socially acceptable for men to fart than women. Because of this women try to hide it more by holding it in and waiting til they are alone or in the bathroom. Sometimes we can even be discrete about it and not make much of a sound. Or we can blame it on the guy in the room. Of course there are the occasional instances when there is no way to hid it but for many women they are few and far between. As for the women in the bathroom all the time that is mostly a different issue. Usually involving female gossip time and checking their hair and make-up. Many women don't think men are pigs (depends on the woman) and at least I am sometimes envious guys have the freedom they do. A guy can be well liked without being attractive or keeping up a facade. Women are constantly degraded by the media, other women and men to keep up a certain standard of attractiveness including but not limited to not farting in public.

I think that facade that women keep up includes the myth that I've grown accustomed to, that women don't fart. In the same way that men don't have that facade so when they do fart, it's hilarious! Thanks for the response.

Well, if you got to let it out, you got to let it out, don't want to hold in the angry gas! But it's perceived that it's not very lady like to let out a gas bomb, that would be pretty unattractive so most women don't tend to let it out and women tend to reprimand the guy for letting one out anyway. But that doesn't mean women can't or shouldn't let one out. Nothing beats a good fart really! Because when you hold it in, it makes you feel really bloated and makes your tummy rumble. That has happened to me on several occasions and my friends just think I have some stomach problem. I remember my friend said her Mum was walking down the shops. She's a well dressed and good looking woman and she let one out while walking pass the shops but she didn't seem to care. It's all natural!

Maybe that's the reason I hear about women complain about being bloated. I rarely hear any complain about passing or holding gas, but I hear about the bloating. I guess that explains it! Thanks for the response.

Haha! Yup, at least, I am one of those that stayed in the toilet to fart if I can... LOL... Unless of course, I have no other choice... But mine are usually silent, though not deadly.. And I have to agree, thought SOME men just doesn't mind disturbing the peace and air once in every few hours...

Yes, I am sure it's only deadly once every blue moon. I know because, if it is deadly, i am usually the first to know. LOL. you're welcome.

Haha! Are you sure it's not deadly ksherrie?! The silent ones are usually the most 'deadly'. That's why men don't worry about disturbing the peace, as mostly for them are just loud and funny. Thanks.

I've a friend who lives with her partner. The partner swears that he has never heard her fart in the whole time they've been together. Personally I reckon that either he's deaf and wears a clothespeg, or she's got something wrong with her! It's just not possible!

I'm not saying it's something you want to do often, but really if you can't let your partner know you fart occasionally you must never be able to relax.

Maybe she's mastered her body so well that she can schedule her farts. That it only releases when she's somewhere 'safe', and never when there are people around. Even here partner. Thanks.

She must have been a trans gender or something, because women do not fart!! LOL.. no really though. Usually I do not bother to hide it from my husband, although I will pitch a fit when he rips one because it's so gross!!

Now there's a double standard! I guess it's because you know that men find it funny, and women find it gross, if it were not them of course. Thanks.

We fart! Everyone does it's natural. It is just that us women have the curdiousy to be more polite then to just rip and stink up the area. My boyfriend does not mind if I fart. But I do it if it is not horrific. When I know it is going to smell bad then I'll go into another room. Eventually he will follow to see why I jumped up so fast so he still ends up smelling it But that's his fault. But when we are in bed I do I don't care I am comfortable around him. And visa versa.

Very well said. In public we try to be polite still. My man says he knows that's how I am comfy with him, and love him.

I know it's natural. I'm sure men and women process food the same. It's just that it's not common to see women do it. Unlike men, which sometimes could be the cause of amusement. It does say being 'comfortable' with each other if you rip one out even if you have company. Thanks.

Yeah I am not ripping one out when we have company. Unless it is his mother and I hope she smells it. US women have a level of comfortableness as well. We do it when we feel comfortable doing it and when we know it will not give us the evil eye.

Hello scififan43. I think the reason she didn't say 'excuse me', or even say anything was that she didn't want anybody to know that it was actually her who let one out. As I was just beside her (and nobody within earshot), I was sure that it was her. Thanks.

LOL, you don't hide? It must be really funny them when guys get together and when it happens...well it happens. I know cause I had a girlfriend that was so funny, she wasn't ashamed of me and she farted without even giving me a warning. I couldn't breath as I laughed so hard. I think it comes since from ancient times, we just are not comfortable doing it in front of others. This girl was different but like 95% of the girls don't fart in front of anybody and I think it's cute. I don't know, for us it's just normal to be discreet I think. Happy MyLotting everyday!

Oh, what a shattered image. But, she carried it well, because she seemed so busy that she intentionally didn't see you hear it. My husband and i would usually always have a laugh whenever one of us fart while in our bedroom at night, while watching TV. And my husband would always put the joke on me by cupping his hand to his butt, whenever he farts with no sound. I would really cover my nose with a pillow but he would really jokingly put it away and let me smell his fart. Oh my, how i would run going outside of the room to avoid it and we would be laughing after that.

It's funny that you are so relax about it, and that you could even make fun out of it. Or at least on your hubby's case. But there is something to the fact that you're so relaxed and comfortable with your partner that you can even let out bodily functions. It shows acceptance, and I think that's great. Thanks for the response.

LOL That's hilarious and disgusting at the same time. Women are suppose to be the feminine ones, in the eyes of each other and men we aren't suppose to do those type of things. The way I was raised it isn't lady like to rip one in public, but we are human's and in the privacy of our own home and when we are alone it is natural, again gases are part of human nature. Men aren't raised the same way we are. They actually find it amusing and hilarious to fart.

It's interesting that even though 'ases are part of human nature', the two sexes view it differently. That one can be taught the proper way, and the other can find it hilarious! Thanks fabs!

Hey my dearest bro! I guess you have figured out one of the mysteries of women once again! Yup, we are only human (at least most of us are). Some can dress up, pretend to be whomever with their fancy designer clothes, hair done, makeup precise, but no matter what they are just human beings after all! And we all have to do the same "bodily functions" including that most embarrassing one that comes out once in awhile. However embarrassing it is every now and then a women, like it or not we will try to hold it back, but won't be able to and will just have to let it rip..... I'm sure she was livid and trying really hard hoping no one would notice! But, I can guarantee she was literally dying inside!

Hi Sis! I bet she was! I glanced back at her (after I was at a distance of course), and was hoping that she would look back, so I could acknowledge that I heard it. But she didn't. She would have been more livid! Thanks sis. You take care.

I would like to share one more live example . Its my mom who farts without hesitation but only besides me or dad or my brother . Its not their fault , afterall they are also humans . Speaking scientifically as I have done my graduation in biotechnology , we humans are not responsible for farting . Its the micro-organisms which reside in our intestines which degrade our food and produce gases . The release of these gases is the ultimate result known as farting . :D
@bounce58 (17387)

Haha! Nice one kauant! It's just human to blame farting on something else, if we can't blame it on guys around, we could attribute it to micro organisms, for sure! Thanks for the response.

haha.. maybe its just an accident. but usually girls want to hide it when we are in a public place or with someone. but farting is normal for human being. but for men when a girl fart. it's a turn off.

Hello mooyah! And you know why it's a turn off right? Because girl always project themselves as incapable of ripping one out, that when they do it's so against the norm that it's then perceived as a turn off. Thanks. And welcome to myLot!
