Hubby's foreign car, the middle tail light the lens is broken and partly fell out. I'm trying to find somewhere that won't cost us a fortune between the kit and the lens as I guess you have to replace the whole thing will run us over $200. Just looking for suggestions of where to look online? places online you could recommend?

There is no online auto store that will not cost you a fortune to buy a replacement for broken tail light lens, all are priced expensive as well as those neighborhood auto stores, except it take longer for you to get the lens. Fancy foreign made car tail light lens are always over several hundred dollars no matter where you do the purchase, the labor cost and shipping always add up to cost you a fortune.

Check in your general area for a pull your own parts yard. We have them here and they are a lot cheaper due to the fact you look through the yard, find what you're looking for, then pull the part off yourself. Online? No idea actually.

I was going to also suggest this. When you arrive you can go to the front counter and ask them if they have such and such yr, make and model they can tell you what rows they are in. Sometimes they can even tell you other years that had the same lens used.

You can try your phone book for recycle yards. We have a recycle yard for nearly every make of vehicle. They can run much less for certain items. High demand items will coat more. Most items should be have the price of new though. These places buy vehicles at auctions where the vehicle has been wrecked and still have many working parts on them. Like a front end damaged vehicle would work for you in this case since you need a replacement part from the rear.
Most of these places give you a 30 day return if it doesn't work. Same with the above mentioned you pull places.

Grandpa and the others are right about checking the junk yards, you can really get a bargain! Meanwhile, put some red tape or other appropriate color over the lens so you'll be compliant with state law. I see a lot of that around here and have done it myself in the past.

Auto junk yards is what they are called around here. Many I know will call a few on the telephone and ask if they have what one is looking for. Only thing is that they expect you to unscrew and remove them off the cars. But it is well worth it as they sell them cheap.
