Apparently the Amateur International Boxing Association can't

tell men from women. Women's boxing will be featured for the first time as an Olympic sport in the 2012 games. This is, of course, great news for female boxers of Olympic quality, as well as their fans. What isn't so good news... the association wants the women to wear shirts instead of the traditions trunks. Why? "because it will make the women easier to distinguish from the men" I think the association is run by total morons, or blind eunices. Either way, it's a ridiculous idea. http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/blog/fourth_place_medal/post/Boxing-federation-wants-female-boxers-to-wear-sk?urn=oly-wp850

I think it would make them look like cheerleaders instead of boxers.

That really is silly. Athletic clothing should be chosen because it enhances athletic performance, not to distinguish gender. I don't know if it'll make much of a performance difference either way, but I'd much rather have the athletes themselves decide what they want to wear than have it be dictated to them. Incidentally, I think the fact that the event is called women's boxing ought to tip off discerning spectators as to the gender of the pugilists.

How stupid!! Are they supposed to wear the sKirts around their necks to hide their telltale boobs. You are correct the association must be run by total morons, or blind eunices.
