Beijing opera is a Chinese traditional essense and used to be welcomed nationwide. With its origin dating back to Qing Dynasty, Beijing opera has developed a special system of performance. performers all wear fabulous costumes and make-up, and their voices are quite unique, which makes Beijing opera quite attractive to foreigners. But usually it's too hard for them to understand what exactly those performers are trying to convey on stage. What do you think of Beijing opera?

Good day, friend. Beijing opera used to be welcomed nationwide decades ago. But as time went by, new technologies developed. Now we have computers, TV sets, cell phones, etc to replace these traditional ways of entertainment. I feel kind of sorry for the situation for Beijing opera. Younger generations nowadays seldom enjoy it, me included. I think only people as old as my grandparents would listen to Beijing opera. But it would be unfortunate if we lost this great art. So people do have the responsibility to pass it on.

Hi, aquacan. Even if i am Chinese, i don't like Beijing opera at all. When i was a child, i had to watch it on TV because my dad liked it and reigned the remote. What a pity! Through several years of cultivation, i am not into it yet. First, i suggest that the dialogues in Beijing opera are too redundant. Second, ancient costume is not my type. At last, i don't get the lines very much. Nevertheless, i do think it critical to Chinese culture. And i am glad that a great deal of children aspire to learn Beijing opera. Anyway, it is undisputedly imperative to preserve our fabulous culture.

Hello, captinjack. Actually I seldom listen to Beijing opera too. And I think this would be the case with younger generations in China. I prefer pop music to Beijing opera. In my mind, Beijing opera is kind of old-fashioned and only someone as old as my grandparents would like that. Now we have so many entertainments to have fun. Movies, travelling, TV series, etc all appear more attractive than this "old" Chinese essence. That's why Beijing opera, as well as other Chinese traditional culture are in great danger. People do have the responsibility to pass on those precious culture. But at the same time, I think those traditional essences should make some adjustments to adapt to this modern society. Otherwise, they are not able to survive.
