We had two cats papa and kanna. In March papa went out and never came back. I made all efforts to find it but in vain. In July even Kanna went out and never came back. But two of our friends also said that their cats too never came back. If it was dog, it would have stayed at home. How much love and affection we showed on them for three years? How can they not think of that?

One cat was left out by her mother when it was 10 or 15 days old and was shouting for her mother for three hours. I took pity and gave milk to it in a small plate. Next day onwards it started coming for milk whenever it was hungry. Then slowly it entered our house. We vaccinated and even spayed it and it was our darling to one and all in our house. The other cat kanna was very weak when it was very small like a month or so and it's food was forcibly taken away by the big cats and it went without food for four days it seems, (as per my neighbour's version). It was almost semi-conscious near our house. We started giving little milk slowly and then it recovered. Then that also was adopted by us. So they came on their own.

Sorry to hear about your cats. My mums cat went missing for a few months, but he's a tom cat. He eventually came home, but also brought the rest of our cats back with him. Those cats are almost feral, they will tolrate a pat if you somehow catch them. They are also only here cause the females are in kitten and want food. I went for a walk down the road a few weeks ago, only to find my 6 month old kitten followed us on the way home. He wouldn't let me catch him, so I left him there thinking he would follow. but he didn't, it wasn't till the next morning i figured that he didn't come home. I eventually went for a walk to where i'd last seen him, and he was hiding bout 20 m from where I saw him. Mum said he musta been to scared to move.

From your words I get a hope that my tom cat kanna also will come back with my female cat papa one day. In Mylot itself many members expressed their opinion earlier that cats came back after six months or even one year with some friend. I am hoping for that friend.

For me maybe you don't feed them and many bad things they encounter in you that's why they don't like you.

Many say this. But cats are so tender and delicate and they are like babies. Till they were with us, they were very affectionate.

It is not because they have forgotten you but I think it may be either because of not knowing the way to return home. I also doubt whether you have taken them out for walking just like dogs. Only training can make control over pets.

Cats cannot be taken for walk. They will not come. They are independent and want to move on their own. I have not taken them for walk. I just left them out as usual and they never came back.

It might not be that they didn't get enough love or remember the love you gave them. Someone could have thought they were a stray and decided to bring them in and keep them for themselves. We have two strays that hang around now. Both of them are friendly and love to be held so I think they had to have owners at some point. I'm not preventing them from going home, but I feed them so they've been sticking around here. Or it's possible another animal could have got a hold of them, or they got hit by a car.

No untoward incident has happened for which I made enquiries in the surrounding area. But may be they found new master and are happy there. I was not giving non-veg item as we are vegetarians but we were giving imported food like Whiskas and IAMS and of course milk. May be they needed non-veg and are getting it from somewhere. As long as they are happy somewhere, I am relieved of anxiety about them. You have given some confidence for which I thank you immensely.

I think something must have happened to them. I think usually cats love staying with their masters. It's so sad you had to go through this especially when you had them with you for more than three years. Time will heal, what else can I say?

True friend only time can heal. Even the imported food is lying at home in the box. May be I should give it to other cats that I come across.

I dont think cats are so faithful like dogs to their masters. May be i am wrong in thinking. But what ever happened, it is unfortunate. No words are there to console you. Since we do not know the fate of them, let us hope that somewhere they are safe and return one day or other

I'm sorry that they left you. Do you think a neighbor could have taken them in? One time our cat was missing for three days. We knocked on every door asking if they'd seen the cat. Everyone said no. However, we went to one woman's house, she said she hadn't seen the cat, but right when I went home...My cat was scratching on my door. She must have taken the cat in during a storm and then felt bad and set her free.

My cat kanna - This is Kanna.
Thanks for the suggestion friend. I went and asked all the neighbours in three roads but no one saw it. One cat kanna was frequenting the third cross road often and be on the top of a shed there. But those people living in that area said it has not come there. We have so many sweet memories about them. Feel very depressed at times.
