We went to a new hospital and was surprised that the Rights of a Patient was posted in significant places with a very visible printing. In fact it is also in the entrance in a very large tarpaulin and at every station. This is the first hospital here in my place that put importance of letting the patients learn of their rights. Are you aware of your rights as a patient?

Iam in medical field so I really know all the rights of patient. I think we should educate patients on their rights. Some Iam sure that they are not aware of existence of such thing as patient rights.

It is my first time to see a hospital which is serious in educating their patients on their rights and I am happy about it. I think we all have an option, we just have to express our rights.

Keep familiarizing yourself with those rights and Iam sure next time you go to see your physician will be smart to know when to say no.

I know my rights although they don't publish it over here. But they do have boxes where you can put in your complaints (weird you never get them answered) and they don't like it if you tell them you want your right. It's still a fight to get your right as a patient. They always try to over rule you one way or the other and you have to be very strong (or better take 2 people along with you) to get your right. I do think that is a bad thing. A patient is still a customer who is paying for advice, good service. Not a begglar, although not over here.

Yes, suggestion boxes are very popular too here but the basic right is not mostly posted. The rights is so vast that it includes the rights to be told of your condition in a manner which could be understandable by the patient, right to privacy, right to accept or decline treatment, right to review the bills, right to expect for the outmost care and attention, etc. I hope that the government will take unto look on this and have a list which could protect us all.
