Hi myLotters! Many of us today live in cities-small, medium or big cities. Perhaps our fore fathers were living in country side and moved to cities in search of jobs and so called improved quality of life. As we seek more & more comfort and excitement, we are flooded with many modern gadgetry, tools and artificially created fun spots. But there is stress and pollution as also disconnect with nature. I make a point and I love going to countryside as often as I can and spend time close to nature with its unspoiled rusticity, serenity, simplicity and freshness. I had an occasion to visit the countryside again yesterday with my family and spent time amid quiet nature & simple people. I have a picture of a cool water canal surrounded by green fields & palm trees here. Do you live or visit countryside often? Do you have any link with life & people in countryside? Let us share our experiences with other myLotters!

I think it depends on how you life and how the atmosphere inside your house and the area around your house is. If this is in harmony I don't think there is a need to feel stressed. City means: city right. There are large cities and small cities who look like a village. I live in a bigger (dutch) city but it doesn't feel like a city at all. We don't have really skyscrapers over here. Many people have their own front and backgarden. My back garden is over 16 meters long. I have high trees in my garden and there are also high treas all over the city, in each area. The centre of the city is surrounded by the river so you always have to cross a bridge to get there. Next to that there is a lot of water where you can relax. We also have green fields everywhere. So this feels like country side and we live like that too. I can go out without locking my doors and windows. I don't feel the need to visit the countryside, the kind you mean, at all. I feel more relaxed in my own home or just laying on my bed in my own room without being disturbed by other people. The other nature I have is when I am in Hungary. I have a place 8 km outside the city. BTW this city is a city because of the city rights! If you would only look at the size you would call it a city. Over there I am surrounded by the puszta, my house is at the end of a 4 km sandroad and although there are other houses I only have 2 other real neighbours. Also this little city is surrounded by a river and there are enough trees and sand and birds, deers, etc. Personally I don't believe nature is always relaxing this depends on the person. For some it is, to others it is not at all. Already all the insects will drive them crazy. I do agree that living close to eachother makes people more intolerant, nerves, stressed. Especially if you can hear every word your neighbours say or do. So if this is the case it's a good thing to teach yourself to relax, to learn to appreciate the silence and make room for you, your thoughts, feelings, being. It's the silence that will calm (so no tv, radio, computer, talking). Going to the country side and staying in between a big group of noisy people walking and talking around there as well is not relaxing at all.

I live closed to the country side. I think country side is somewhat different from village here in Indonesia. American know country side is small town where in Indonesia country side we called village or Desa in Bahasa Indonesia. I don't go often to Desa, because I have to go out by ferry from where I am living now. I like Desa or country side. Furthermore, I am originally from Desa or from country side. It's always nice to go back to my village, it's just nice and relaxing.

hi.my baby and i live in the country. it is a beautiful village, most of the villagers live in a big house, which has three floors.the room is big and capacious,it is not like the house in the city. there are much fields and people can feed sheep or pigs. the beauty of the country lies in its nature. we plant vegetbales around the house when we need to do dishes,we just go and take, which is very convenient . some people like the city life ,but i don't.
