Do you like paneling or prefer painted walls?

Our Family Room - The paneling makes it look alot better than white painted walls.

We had drywall with paint downstairs and decided to put up paneling instead. Sure makes it look nicer and it feels so cozy in the familyroom now. What do you think?

Your family room looks so nice and cozy. I like both paint and paneling. I just moved out of a house that I had lived in for 20 years. Every room had paneling, except the bathroom. The previoius people went overboard with the paneling. I have painted walls were I live now. Everything is so much brighter, the other house was always so dark.

They have so many different kinds of paneling now days, so you can get the lighter colors. Thank for the compliment on our familyroom, we totally enjoy it! Thanks for the reply :-]

The paneling looks very nice and prefer that over painted walls. Very good choice in choosing paneling. Your family room does look very cozy and am sure that you will enjoy it even more with the paneling. When I get a bigger house, I will probably do the same thing.

It does tend to make it warmer in a room with paneling! Thanks for the response :-]

i like both as long as the panel does not have a wallpaper type on it bc that kind is hard to clean.

I prefer painting because it's more versatile. Once you have panelling that is pretty much the look you're going to have for a while. Both my childhood home and the home I live in now have a lot of panelling and while I'm not anywhere near ripping it down, it wouldn't have been my choice.

I think the room you have pictured looks nice. It depends for me. If I have a great big family/game room, panneling is OK. But I prefer paint.

I prefer painted walls. I strongly dislike paneling or wainscoting for homes. I don't like the way it looks, the way it feels, or that it would be more work to fill in a hole in it (like from a nail in the wall). Painted walls look much better and it'd be easier and faster to change the color of it. And if you get a hole in it, it's easier to fill back in. I wouldn't want to buy a house that had any paneling. I would have to have it removed
